When it says "the same lump" it means the same person. Everyone is born as objects of wrath and atleast some are born again as objects of mercy. The object of wrath is the sinful nature and object of mercy is the spirit.

This verse explains it.
hand this man over to Satan, so that the sinful nature may be destroyed and his spirit saved on the day of the Lord 1 Corithians 5:5

23in order to make known the riches of his glory for vessels of mercy, which he has prepared beforehand for glory— 24even us whom he has called, not from the Jews only but also from the Gentiles? Rom 9:23-24

Paul is referring to the vessels as people, not the lump of clay the vessels are made from.

Hi Rick , the odd thing here is that many believe in destiny but refuse God to have a say in it , they love destiny (purpose) but hate PRE-Destiny !!
