Do they visit us?

I am in a struggle here - I do not know what the Christian belief is on ghost. Part of me believes and the other part is saying is a treat of satan. I know there are demons.. and they do make thier presence.

But, wierd things happens at my moms house. She has the ashes of my there. I feel my grandma when I visit the house. And I always catch wierd pictures when I take pictures of my kids.. this past weekend.. I picked up a very bright angel looking picture coming from the room with her ashes..

My husband thinks I am crazy..

some things of God are defined in scriptures as mysteries, this is probably the greatest one. if demons can influence and present themselves why not angels

according to this verse we should hear angels, even as they tell us another gospel,( please take note this is after Jesus has left the scene. but as far as Ghost? Samuel has brought back by a witch one time in the old testament. my brother ( a fundamental Baptist ) had an encounter with My Daughter the day after her funeral, where he heard someone walking through His house, and he spoke and ask who was there he said my daughter spoke up and said it is Katherine, please tell Mom and Dad that I am ok. for A religion that believes in the HOLY GHOST as the third part of the Holy Trinity, but yet some would limit us to not believe in ghost. you make the call!!

You are not crazy...I feel the presence of both my Mom and Dad from time to time...it is not scary, it is comforting.

you know, Jesus and the holy ghost come and visit us while we're here on earth right? you don't always KNOW you've been visited, but sure enough he comes down and plays with you a little then leaves.

So, since we have free will in life.. do you think when we die.. we will still have that free will to visit?

The veil between Heaven and Earth just blows my mind. I know my itty bitty brain is not ready to understand what happens after life..

but it is comforting to 'just' think lost love ones can still come visit you..

thank you for the Bible reference. I always wondered if there was anything In the Bible that portrayed this.

Angels and demons - yes.
Ghosts - no.
Ghosts are simply demons. Remember even though a demon knows exactly how to scare you, it will gain more from you to decieve and fool you. Demons have been here since the fall, so yes they know everything that you think only a dead person would know. I suppose an angel could appear as a ghost, but why? After dying, you do not have the choice to hang around as a ghost. That whole idea is non-christian.

I would have to disagree with this post, for demons are not omniscience/all knowing beings, if Satan was omniscience he would have to know that the best thing for him to do was to stay with God, and not to rise up against God, and He hasn't learned even after the fall, so basicly you are saying that satan's servants/demons are greater than their master, for they know secret things about people. if there can be no truth in satan can his servants the demons have any true knowledge pertaining to us?? Nay

I don't believe in the ghosts of people visiting us.

But I do think there's alot passed on from generation to generation beyond just hair color and facial structure kinds of things. The bible puts a good deal of emphasis on bloodlines, generational sins, the inequities of our fathers etc.

I have a sister that was adopted at birth and only met her when she was 21. She not only resembled our mother, she personified her, made similar life choices as her, held her cigaratte and flicked her hair the same way, attracted to the same type of man. The world seems to tell us that so much is environmental; but I'm completely convinced there's alot more that comes from blood relatives through generations.

I don't think a Ghost of your Grandmother's actually there; however (and this is pure speculation) perhaps you are visiting a place or object that illicitted a special response in your grandmother, or perhaps your mother thinks alot about your grandmother around those ashes, maybe the relationship and interaction between you and your mother combined pull together a lot of the traits your grandmother passed on to you both.

On the same token you should be careful that you don't open yourself up in a way that might allow you to be deceived. Imagine the power someone or something could have over you if it could convince you it was your grandma, someone whom you trust.

I did not say that they were. I said that they have been here since the fall. Far longer than you or me. They could be sitting in your presence as you read this. They know everything about you.
John 8:44, what is the point of posting this verse? Which by the way is a confusing verse in it's own. The devil was once an angel in heaven created by god himself.

It could be just her energy surrounding her ashes.. my mom has a lot of trigger objects ( like her favorite stuff in the glass cabnit. It is like a shrine.. energy can attach to object.. it might not be here say spirit, hear say, but I do feel something when I visit my mom's house. Also, a lot of weird electrical stuff does happen.. which can be energy also... I guess I will never truly know until I get to Heaven and ask God the millions of questions I have.

What if you pray daily for the Spirit to rebuke them.. will they stay or go?? Are there enough demons ( ug, hate that word) to be watching over every single person.. knowing what will hurt them?

Sheol (pronounced "Sheh-ol"), in Hebrew שְׁאוֹל (She'ol), is the "grave", or "pit" or "abyss"

Ghost.....are spirits, any Christian that doesn't believe in spirits is unbiblical, we are told to test the spirits, so we know spirits exist, if you knew what the bible teaches, you would know that if a spirit was trying to make you think it was your passed on loved one, that it is a lying spirit and you should have nothing to do with it, further more you are (if you are a christian) not to have any communication with the dead (AT ALL!) don't enteract don't talk to this spirit unless you simply command it to go into the abyss which is what I suggest.
