I must have missed the part in the Constitution that requires the Executive to give special white house access to reporters from cable networks. I cannot find the clause that requires the President to have press briefings or press conferences and allow specific media outlets to have special privileges for their reporters to ask as many questions as they please without ceding the floor until those questions have been answered in the way the reporter decides is satisfactory to that reporter. The First Amendment does specifically say that Congress shall make no law abridging the freedom of the press. Search as I have, I cannot find the clause that requires the President to be obey the press or to passively stand by while a specific reporter makes a speech disguised as a question.
You clearly do not understand the First Amendment because your statements clearly contradict the rulings and the Supreme Court's unequivocal interpretation of the First Amendment. Not surprising of course when people buy into a cult of personality as opposed to the law. But this is nothing new the Bill of Rights is only about guns and nothing else.

Well, the best tactic for the press to take during these briefings might be to collude on their questions and ask follow up questions to each other's original questions when presented with non-answers.

The press is more than one person. While one hogs the floor, where are the rights of the other 30 or so who cannot get a word in ?

Or are first amendment rights only for particular people who follow certain partisan politics?

What is the press so afraid of, that they only want one or two controlling the narrative?

The main issue I have with these rules is the second one. Follow ups are likely going to be be granted to reporters willing to accept non-answers or ask only softball questions.

Not sure how valid that opinion is.

I'd say that it's a reasonable assumption, given Trump's demonstrated attitude towards people/organizations/questions he doesn't like.

I believe the first amendment is a limit on government, not private citizens.

Wouldn't it be simpler for President Trump to just not acknowledge Acosta, by not allowing him to ask a question?

Let him or anyone keep their Pass, just don't call on them to speak.

Yes. And Chris Wallace asked Trump that very question.
Trump didn't have a good answer....

[of course we know why Trump calls on Acosta ]

I also think its expecting a lot of any administration to trust them to not only use their ability to pick or choose questions to not intentionally only ask for give-mes.

Sure. No one asked them to sign a statement or anything. No one asked them to agree with anything. The WH issued some rules.

Part of the rules is 'credentials could be suspended or revoked' if they don't obey the rules.

No one asked me to sign an agreement not to drive 100mph. The government issued some rules, no one asked me to agree to follow them.

And do you have a drivers' license?

Can it be taken away if you don't follow the rules?

Yes, therefore, contrary to your OP, the media is not in charge. Not agreeing to the rules (of the road, of the press room) does not mean that the rules do not apply. Thank you for playing.
