Some psychics can connect with familiar spirits and tell you things. This opens the door for demons to enter your life and they will make matters far worse. The Holy Spirit is there for every believer to guide, and teach, why would you want to bypass God and try something with the devil's side? If you are unable to hear from God yourself, get prayer and maybe go to a church where some members operate in the prophetic gifts that may help direct you with God's words. Lastly, I know there are some physics that claim to be Christian. I would be skeptical of their messages, since if they are charging money and operating with any aids like crystals, tarot cards etc, they likely too are operating with the wrong voices.
Deuteronomy 18:10-12 (KJV)
10 There shall not be found among you any one that maketh his son or his daughter to pass through the fire, or that useth divination, or an observer of times, or an enchanter, or a witch, 11 Or a charmer, or a consulter with familiar spirits, or a wizard, or a necromancer. 12 For all that do these things are an abomination unto the LORD: and because of these abominations the LORD thy God doth drive them out from before thee.

Some people are intuiative and can sense things. I have a friend who has this ability—several years she and I had lunch, and after we ate she told me to get to the hospital because I had a heart issue. It turned out that I had contracted a virus that had weakened my heart. She probably saved my life. However, she is a Christian and isn’t in the psychic business and would never do readings for people in exchange for money.

I would never go to a commercial psychic. I don’t think most of them are Satanic, but they are gamers who will tell you what they think you need to hear and will try to sell you crystals and other items so they can make money.

I remember being a teen countless decades ago (because I lost count), my friends and I would call up those physic hotlines that were kind of pricey after five minutes. We tested them and they all failed. For example, I still remember the general method they went... hey, what else do single, lonely teenage boys do but make phone calls.....
Me: Why am I calling?
Physic: You have a question about love, money, sex, life.
Me: Well, I have a lot of questions about those, but why am I calling you now?
Physic: To get answers.
:argh:
Me: Yes, but what am I calling for you specifically?
Physic: To get one of those questions you have answered.
Me: No. I called to see if you could tell my intention was not to call you about these but to see how long it would take for you to realize I was seeing how much you really could tell what I wanted and how anxious I am to hang up and save the next $2.50 in the next minute.

Ah, good times.... good time.

I challenged them to see if they really knew, because, they can not tell the future. God can change the future in an instant, so no human perception can tell an exact future. I did not need them telling me anything else, since at the time I was not getting love, sex, or money, and I was dealing with life already. Why call up about that and get them to tell me something I did not already know?:ahah:

Some of them have their own shows.

Actors usually do have their own shows.

But no, we're talking about charlatans, frauds, and con-artists here.

Nobody has magic power to read minds, predict the future, or contact the dead, etc.

The James Randi Foundation has had, since 1964, a prize originally $1,000 and has been increased since then to $1,000,000 for any bona fide evidence of paranormal abilities.

Guess how many have been awarded that prize? The answer is zero. Every time anyone has actually bothered to try and claim the prize they are never able to actually provide any evidence of their paranormal claims. It becomes incredibly hilarious, as happened on Johnny Carson's show back in 1973 with Uri Geller, when suddenly the psychics simply can't do their magic tricks.

So, yeah psychics don't have any powers. They are at best really confused people who think they have something they don't, and at worst they are lying liars who lie. In neither case do they actually have any abilities.

I would highly recommend looking up some old James Randi videos. Randi is a former stage magician who, knowing the tricks of the trade, got fed up with people using what was basically stage magic to trick people into giving them money as though they had actual paranormal abilities, and so James Randi and his foundation has spent decades exposing these charlatans for the hucksters they really are.

It's pretty much been proven how psychics work...they generally utilize methods to get you into thinking something general about your life and get you to concur. The ones with tv shows are completely staged and often have earpieces you can't see. Notice how they old their ear whenever they're getting a premonition.
Sadly, this practice of deception has got into the church. There are videos proving a pastor used this earpiece tactic to seem like he was prophetic and had power from God when in fact his wife was speaking him in an earpiece info from greeting cards they already received.
That's not to say I don't believe in prophetic stuff, I'm really not sure right now on that.

I am always worried that I am in trouble with spirits, God its sort of become an OCD thing. Everyone here that knows me knows I'm superstitious. So in order to receive closure I want to connect with a Psychic to connect with the other side to get reassurance that I am not in trouble with God or possibly others.

Psychics promote themselves as having access to spirits and being able to communicate to Heaven. I know this site is divided on the issue so can people responding to this thread provide reasons why they work, or why they don't work. I am gullible and if a Psychic is good enough at his job he or she will probably convince me. But this gets back to the main question should I pursue a Psychic?
If you want to know about God then talk to a man of God. If you want to know about satan and his demons then talk to a psychic. They will tell you the serpents plan for you and your future. God writes the book of our life before we are born. The angels assigned to us help us to follow God's plan for us and our life. So we need to learn how to work with our angels. We need to avoid the demons who want to deceive us and make us think they represent God when they really represent the serpent.

We are judged by the books God has written so it is in our best interest to follow God's plan for us and our life.

Revelation 20:12 "And I saw the dead, great and small, standing before the throne, and books were opened. Another book was opened, which is the book of life. The dead were judged according to what they had done as recorded in the books."

You mean they utilize methods to get your credit card number so they have access to your $$$.

It does not take a clairvoyant or a ouija board to figure that out.

No you should never pursue a psychic. These people are working with demons. They are the ones that they get their information from. You will open the door for demonic activity into your life

God has made it very clear not to consult psychics (Deut. 18:10; Gal. 5:19-20). The reason the Lord forbids such practices is that psychics are actually in touch with demonic spirits whether they know it or not. It sounds like you need to develop spiritual discernment which starts with getting in Scripture regularly with the aid of a study Bible and some good commentaries.

Believe this is a forum where non-believers and believers can post.

It's better to get God's wisdom. Searching divination in Scriptures includes "And they caused their sons and their daughters to pass through the fire, and used divination and enchantments, and sold themselves to do evil in the sight of the Lord, to provoke him to anger." II Kings 17:17 God doesnt consider it misguided.

Distinctively different and God's is the manifestation of His spiritual gifts (I Cor 12-14). We're not to be ignorant of them (I Cor12:1). In fact, we're to desire them (I Cor14:1). They're given to every believer (I Cor 12:7).

These paragraphs come from "Interview with an Exorcist", written by Fr. Jose Antonio Forteo.

Question 103.) Can psychics and mediums see the future with the intervention of demons?

No, for two important reasons: First, as we have mentioned, demons themselves do not know the future but can only deduce possibilities; and second, demons seek to do evil to us and, even if they had knowledge of the future, they would not help us by revealing it. That being said, they can reveal some concrete future possibility so that a person can become addicted to consulting a psychic or medium.

A Christian should never for any reason consult a psychic. Consulting such a person is a grave sin because, in the words of the Catechism, "recourse to mediums ... conceal(s) a desire for power over time, history, and in the last analysis, other human beings ... they contradict the honour, respect, and loving fear that we owe God alone"
(CCC 2116). Also, one should never advise a possessed person to consult a medium or psychic. What a priest cannot see with theological knowledge he should not try to replace with the false science of these seers."

If I were the OP, I'd give the idea of visiting a psychic a miss, or he or she could end up with even more difficulties.

PS - With regard to the bit about demons not knowing the future, he had this to say ...

Question 11. Do demons know the future?

No. Demons do not have knowledge of future events. In addition, what belongs to human freedom is undetermined; they do not know in advance our free choices. However, since their intelligence is far superior to ours, they can often predict the future simply by observation and deduction. With their superior intelligence, they can see the effects of certain causes whereas we would perceive nothing. Thus, there are times when they can accurately predict what will happen, even though the most intelligent of human beings would not even suspect such a result, no matter how many factors are analyzed in the present. On other occasions, due to the complexities and variability of human action, even the most powerful angelic intellect can be mistaken in its predictions.
Give the psychics a miss. They don't know what they're fooling around with.

I understand you perfectly. I also had such a panic and I wanted to talk to someone about it. But I found the best psychic directory and got in touch with a psychic there. This was my best communication! I received all the answers to my questions and talked to the people I needed.
Talking to psychics is just like using a wedgie board. You are opening a door for demonic activity.
