If the Jews are Gods chosen people ...

But it is not as though the word of God has failed. For not all who are descended from Israel belong to Israel, and not all are children of Abraham because they are his offspring, but "Through Isaac shall your offspring be named." This means that it is not the children of the flesh who are the children of God, but the children of the promise are counted as offspring. For this is what the promise said: "About this time next year I will return and Sarah shall have a son." And not only so, but also when Rebecca had conceived children by one man, our forefather Isaac, though they were not yet born and had done nothing either good or bad -- in order that God's purpose of election might continue, not because of works but because of his cal l-- she was told, "The older will serve the younger." As it is written, "Jacob I loved, but Esau I hated." Romans 9:6-13

I've been asked this alot here recently and really dont know the answer. If the Jews are Gods chosen people, but they dont believe in Jesus, are they going to hell?

Jews are not Gods chosen people. Most peope that are called Jews today are not or have ever been Hebrews.

Maybe ten or fifteen percent are Hebrews.

Gods chosen nation is the nation Israel. Israel means Champions of God. Those that believe in God and Jesus and Champion Gods and Jesus cause are now part of Israel.

The House of Judah is Benjamin, Levi and Judah. The House of Israel split from the House of Judah and they are not one and the same.

But Yes some of Benjamin, Levi and Judah (Today they are called Jews) will make it home to Heaven.

Rev. 7:5 Of the tribe of {Judah} [were] sealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Reuben [were] sealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Gad [were] sealed twelve thousand.
7:7 Of the tribe of Simeon [were] sealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of {Levi} [were] sealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Issachar [were] sealed twelve thousand.
7:8 Of the tribe of Zebulun [were] sealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Joseph [were] sealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of {Benjamin} [were] sealed twelve thousand.

The country in the Holy-Land is not the nation Israel and have no claim to the name Israel the Tribes of Benjamin, Levi and Judah are not Israel and cannot claim the name Israel. Its in the first Book of your Bible Genesis.

It is up to God There are many Jews who believe Jesus Christ as there personal saviour. I am so light on judging Jews only God knows the heart of there thoughts. I know it is a old teaching but some will read the New Testament. We can debate it all we want but only God has a answer to Jews will be saved. We can only pray. All that enter hevean has to cliam Jesus died on the cross for all sins and he is the only way to get to heaven. I hope many Jews are recieving the right teaching.

None of us should be quick to decide any person's judgement---leave that up to God. God teaches us how to live for Him and only He knows our hearts. There are people who will never hear of Jesus, or if they have heard will never understand--- I would never personally condemn them because of that.

Leave it up to Him---He knows best. :)

All of those who reject the Messiah or going to hell even some who call themselves Christian.
Amen!

Jews, muslims, wicca or whatever...all those who don't believe and follow Jesus Christ with their heart are going to hell because Jesus is the only way to Heaven.
Pretty simple really,we can't pick and choose as it is written how we get there,i think everyone knows this already.

I have wicca,Jewish and Muslim friends but the fact is if they don't acknowledge Jesus as their Lord and Saviour they are not going to heaven.

Jesus himself said this didn't he!

I've been asked this alot here recently and really dont know the answer. If the Jews are Gods chosen people, but they dont believe in Jesus, are they going to hell?

First, the Jews - Israel - was chosen as a nation. When one examines the OT, its clear that not all the Jews in the community of Israel were saved. Also the Bible shows that some outside the community of Israel - Gentiles - were saved. So being chosen as a nation was not the exact same thing as salvation. God has always counted a faith response to Him as essential and not simply being a member of a chosen nation.

Second, the NT indicates that salvation is found only through Jesus. Jesus said in John 14:6 "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me."

So since NT times, only those who place their faith in Jesus as their Savior will be saved. Within the NT, we find that some Jews placed their faith in Jesus as Savior. That would include Peter, John, and Paul, as well as many other disciples. We also find a number of Jews who rejected Jesus altogether, both before and after His crucifixion and resurrection.

So Scripture views Israel (the Jews) as an ethnic designation. There are saved Jews and unsaved Jews, just as there are saved Gentiles and unsaved Gentiles.

In Romans 9-11, Paul addressed this exact issue of some Jews accepting Jesus while most of the remainder rejected them. Paul counted Himself among the Jews who accepted Jesus. The part of Israel who rejected Jesus have been "partially hardened." One day, as Paul said after the "time of the Gentiles has been fullfilled" - then the unbelievers of Israel will embrace Christ as their Savior.

Paul's desire was that his brethren after the flesh should be saved (-from Hell.)
He ( a Jew) also wrote:

Ro 2:9 Tribulation and anguish, upon every soul of man that doeth evil, of the Jew first, and also of the Gentile;
Ro 2:10 But glory, honour, and peace, to every man that worketh good, to the Jew first, and also to the Gentile:

The rich man called Abraham father and yet was tormented in Hades.

The only way to be chosen as far as redemption is concerned is to be chosen by the one who said "I have chosen you."

If you deny the Messiah he will deny you before the Father.

So pray for and evangelise Jew and Gentile alike. They need Jesus.

Yes. When it comes to individual salvation the Jews are no different to the Gentiles. They too are required to live by faith in the Holy One of Israel and His incarnation as the Messiah. If they refuse to believe that God has already incarnated as the Messiah Jesus of Nazareth then they too will die in their trespasses and sins and the fact that they are Jews or Israelites will not save them.

This is why it is vitally important that we Gentile Christians take the gospel to the Jews and not just ignore them or treat them as a 'special case' because of their 'special status' before God. Any falure to preach the gospel to Jews is a form of anti-Semitism for which the Messiah will surely hold us to account on the Day of Judgement.

hell... interesting word. Not found in the OT.... as what a Christian believes... but as a Jew it is sheol... which is the underworld, grave, hell, pit

Sheol - the OT designation for the abode of the dead
place of no return without praise of God wicked sent there for punishment righteous not abandoned to it
of the place of exile (fig) of extreme degradation in sin

It is known in the NT as Hell is the place of the future punishment call "Gehenna" or "Gehenna of fire". This was originally the valley of Hinnom, south of Jerusalem, where the filth and dead animals of the city were cast out and burned; a fit symbol of the wicked and their future destruction.

So when scripture is talking about hell fire, they are talking about a burning garbage dump where the refuse, even human scum dead bodies are thrown to be burned. So when Yeshua was telling them of their fit ending this is what He was alluding to.

It is the greek understanding that took it a step further and gave life to the dead as living dead in a place far below the earth. tartarovw from Tartaros (the deepest abyss of Hell) the name of the subterranean region, doleful and dark, regarded by the ancient Greeks as the abode of the wicked dead, where they suffer punishment for their evil deeds; it answers to Gehenna of the Jews to thrust down to Tartarus, to hold captive in Tartarus.

So to answer your question.. I would say no.. Jews do not have a Chirstian hell to go to.

As Visionary stated the concept of dead people going to a place - either hell or heaven - is not a Jewish concept.
The current Christian concept of dead people going to heaven and hell is one that developed over a couple of thousand years and has been influenced by pagan religions and art and fiction and other cultural influences.
The Jewish religion does not focus much on any afterlife.
They don't claim to know what happens to people after they die.

If you want to know if people who follow the Jewish religion are saved - the answer is no.

It is good to pray for them that they will come to know and accept Christ as their savior.

As LDG brought up, the book of Romans indicates that the Jewish people will have the chance to chose Christ.

But that does not mean we should not pray for them and share the Lord with them.
Some of us are saved.

There are clues to Hell in the OT, even if the rabbinical Jews have generally not recognised them. For instance, what of Daniel 12:2?

" 2Many of those who sleep in the dust of the ground will awake, these to everlasting life, but the others to disgrace and everlasting contempt. "

There is no salvation outside of Yeshua Ha-Masheach. I think LdG said it pretty well in his post.

You're right.

The real problem here is that not only does Jewish doctrine not really deal with Hell but Christian doctrine clearly *departs* from the OT in regards salvation.

For example- a righteous man in the OT (Jew or Gentile) is justified by his reaction towards the Torah which is seen in his works. Faith in the promised future Messiah is barely mentioned as a condition to righteousness. The righteous are rewarded according to their moral and legal reaction to the Torah, the unrighteous not.

Along comes Paul, and suddenly the righteous are not rewarded unless they a) believed in the promised Messiah before He came or b) believe in Him now. According to the NT then, belief in the Messiah is true salvation before and after the Advent.

The problem is, if Paul is correct, then perhaps Jews are saved now because they believe in the Messiah- they just haven't seen Him yet. Just like Abraham. But, the way people interpret that, is that Jews are now "cut off" for missing the Messiah. I'm not sure I fully agree with that.

Why didn't the Jews believe Jesus was the Christ?
First read Isaiah 53:1-12. It is a prophesy telling of the coming of Jesus. It tells of how they would not receive him, how he would be despised and rejected by men.

Also John 1:11
He came unto his own and his own received him not.

John 12:37-43
But he had done so many miracles before them, yet they believed not on him:
That the saying of Esaias the prophet (from Isaiah 53) might be fulfilled, which he spake, Lord, who hath believed our report? And to whom hath the arm of the Lord been revealed?
Therefore they could not believe, because that Esaias said again,

HE HATH BLINDED THEIR EYES, AND HARDENED THEIR HEART; THAT THEY SHOULD NOT SEE WITH THEIR EYES, NOR UNDERSTAND WITH THEIR HEART, AND BE CONVERTED, AND I SHOULD HEAL THEM

These things said Esaias, when he saw his glory, and spake of him.
Nevertheless among the chief rulers also many believed on him; but because of the Pharisees they did not confess him, lest they should be put out of the synagogue:
For they loved the praise of men more that the praise of God.

~These words had to be fullfilled that Christ would be crucified. The Jews were blinded that they could not receive Jesus as the Christ. Then the word would go unto the Gentiles that he may become our Saviour. In Rev. 11:3-13 At the time the two witnesses go to Israel they will testify of the True Word of Christ to the Jews, the 144,000, at this time, they will receive Jesus as the Christ.
