  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

well im just home form my apontment with my midwife and today i was to meet the doctor because my last pregnacy i had a really small bump. they done scans and the done the stress tests just to keep an eye on things. the thought i was having a baby that would be 4pounds. which really is small... so i was really quite worried about it all.

then my son was born at a 6 pounds exactly which is a pretty heathly weight (as ive ben told)
so really there was nothing to worry about...

well the doctor today said that he wants me to get me in for scans later on in pregnacy just to mesure the baby check its growing and to put me on a low does of aspirin because it has shown that it helps the baby grow..... so i first though oh right thats fin there taking etrxa care of me thats good i dont mind getting more scans. but taking a tablet every day is bothering me...

i found an artical about it.

i see the point of taking it if my last baby was actally small but to me 6lbs is not small enough to worry...

just because my belly was small... im really n sure of taking these tablets...

am i just worrying for nothing? shold i just take them and then theres no worries this time about a small baby...

im kinda think i would rather wait and see if i grow really small this time before i start worrying but the doctors got me worryin already...

No, doctors don't always know what's best. Unless there is something else that your doctor is not telling you, taking aspirin can be Harmful to a pregnancy.... They've told us for the last 20+ yrs that taking aspirin can cause bleeding and hemorrhage during the birth and to avoid it like the plague. Now all of a sudden it's worth taking? Hhmmm... according to the article it helps women who have a history of pre-eclampsia, GD, multiple births... do you fit into any of those categories?

Ultimately, you need to do your own research and go with your gut. Maybe you should seek a 2nd opinion on this one.

Ya doctors dont always no what is best! Sometimes they are wrong too! I would discuss this with your doctor again. Ask him if there is another reasonas to why I am being put on Asprin. Or get a second opinion. and I def dont think 6lbs is small I thought that was average size for babies...

im a uk size 8 so i am small during my lest pregnancy i was very sick and didnt put on much weigth. (you know i lost so much weight the first few months i acally weighted the exact same as i did before i was pregnant as i was at 9 months.) the doctor said to me looking at me that im a small built person so i probably will just have small babys.

mrs a2j im gonna sound stupid but i dono what you mean... they are basing it on how my pregnancy went last time. i looked small (i aparntly only looked 7 months when i was the full 9 months)

an your coment about me being a teenager... i still am (well i am untill i turn 21 in my head. i like feeling young lol)hehe mite be married bt hopeflly my skin is still the same and have no strach marks.

I think I'd base my opinion of the doctor on how he responded to your concerns. I'm sure there is a legitament reason why he thinks beneficial to take aspirin... but if your concerned then you should share what you've read and be honest about your concerns about it. If he's a good doc he'll explain to you the rationale and put your fears at ease or just support your decision.

However often when you get prescribed meds it'll say "take as the doctor directs" and being a nurse myself I've found that doctors will often prescribe a medication that is for something else because they feel it'll be beneficial in your situation and I respect the expertise... but I wouldn't just take something or go to someone if I didn't feel comfortable about it... I'd definitely express my concerns.

What's a red flag for me about a doctor is when they don't listen to me or blow me off and chose to do something without explanation.
