I've noticed that most folks who feel this way aren't angry, they are sad for disbelievers. This seems contradictory to me, since their feeling of pity is based on the assumption that God doesn't. Why would they feel pity and God feel only anger? If you had two people, one that was angry at disbelievers and the other who felt pity for disbelievers, which one do you think would be the more positive and constructive person?

You make the asssumption that a person goes to hell because God was angry at them, that God sends them there out of malice. I do not beleive that this is what the bible teaches. I believe that the bible teaches that God loves all His creation and does not want any to perish. It says that hell was created for Satan, not man. Any man that goes there, goes because He rejects God, basically because he chose to.

Rom 1:18-21
18 For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness;
19 Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath shewed it unto them.
20 For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse :
21 Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened.

Disbelievers are destroyed (or sent to hell whichever you prefer) because they choose their sin above God. Therefore because God cannot allow sin to continue once he returns, all those who cherish sin over God he has no choice but to destroy (the 2nd death-Rev 20:4-6). Thats not to say he likes it, it hurts him more than we could ever understand or know.

Hence we shouldn't be angry at unbelievers, but have compassion on them and do our best to show them why God's way is better. Love them and pray that God will soften their hearts and open their eyes.

Sad, pity, anger, remorse, .....whatever. Unbelievers are going to hell. Period.

God has never been angry....for anger is a sin.....the Lord is sinless, and perfect.
"For God so "LOVED" the world". The unbelievers will be angry at themselves in hell for not believing while on earth.

God does not put unbelievers in hell! He doesn't, unbelivers put themselves there!

Why do I say that?

"He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him." -John 3:36

The ultimate sin that will put them there, rejection of Jesus Christ.

But that's just my two cents worth.

I think God will save whoever He wishes to save. It's not for us to condem the unbeliever to Hell. I do pray that the unbelievers in my life will come to Christ, but I don't know for certain if they will go to hell. By saying "all unbelievers go to hell", we are putting limits on God. God's ways are not our own. We do not know exactly the fate of others, only God knows what's in the heart of man.

The Bible records times when God has been angry. When the people made a golden calf God said "Now leave me alone so that my anger may burn against them." (Exodus 32:9,10).

Psalm 30:5 "For his anger lasts only a moment, but his favor lasts for a lifetime."

Hebrews 3:10 "This is why I am angry with that generation..."

I'm not sure if the word is used, but no one can read about Jesus chasing the moneychangers out of the temple without seeing that Jesus was angry.

God does not have to play by the rules He made for humans. He is God!

Does it say anywhere that anger is a sin?

I don't think that being angry is an issue in itself. It's how you deal with that anger that matters. That's just my impression though.

That is absolutely correct. We are told to:

Eph 4:26

26 Be ye angry, and sin not : let not the sun go down upon your wrath:
KJV

Because they have chosen not to believe. Everyone has that choice.

Mark 16:15-16
15 And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.
16 He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.
KJV

John 3:18
18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.
KJV

God is capable of speaking to anyone. There are athiests on this board that hear the truth every day and they mock it and reject Him. They are the ones that are really in danger. A person in a remote location that has never heard of Christ is not in as much danger (in my opinion). God can speak to them and offer them His truth as the first verse I listed says.

But I don't know people who actually reject God while knowing that He exists. Some people just don't believe that God exists, or view Him in a different way than Christians.

Here's a hypothetical situation. Let's say that Christianity is false and Islam is true. They also have a hell for unbelievers. And you must have heard about Islam. So, would you think it's fair if you died and went to hell for "rejecting the truth of Islam, which was presented to you and you had a choice to believe"? Would you say that you deserve to be in hell for not being a Muslim?

I would say, instead, that hypotheticals are useless if the premise is patently untrue. :)

I never said that it's true. I just used it as an example. :)

I don't believe that Islam is true, but let's say that it is to give an example. So, Islam is true and you, as a Christian, go to the Muslim hell after death. Would you then believe that it's fair that you're in hell, because you didn't believe the truth?

"The only way to get to the Father is through me (Jesus)'.
One MUST believe that Jesus died for our sins, that He is the one and only savior, this is the only way to heaven, there is no other way.

Yes because Muslims don't believe in the "One true God". "There shall be no God's before me or after me". Christ IS the only way.....whomever believes in Islam without excepting Christ before they die will go to hell for all eternity. This is a promise from the Lord.

I think you misunderstood me...

Why, in your opinion, if someone doesn't become a Christian in their life, they go to hell for eternity? For me, it sounds unjust and plainly evil. Can you convince me that there is anything good in it?
