I was thinking today about how the word "science" basically means to divide...so analysis...which is why it can never encompass all of life, so it's linear view of biology should not be used in a critical examination of the Creator's ways.
There's a very powerful Biblical principle at hand here:

Luke 12:34 For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.

Academians, when they aren't busy rolling cars, staring into the sun on LSD, storming stages, and provoking national guards to shoot them, invest a lot of their money (treasure) into their studies, and they're not going to stand for some hoamskooled idjit who boasts about his ignints to come around and tell them their science can take a hike -- let alone defend his position with Scripture.

How do you know that?

How do you know this verse is accurate?

Sorry to butt in again, but isn't this like asking how one knows if they are conscious...kind of?

I'm just asking you how you know the Bible is the word of God?

No human being would inspire such writing. Alcoholics don't write 12 step programs to get sober.

That would be other than Bob Smith and Bill Wilson, the alcoholics who founded Alcoholics Anonymous and established the 12 Step Program for sobriety?

Per the title.

And if the answer is yes, how do creationists critically examine their own ideas?

Casual observation and perusal of anatomy books is reassuring.

One studies to learn more about their beliefs, not to look for 'loose bricks'.

What inspired them to look to "a higher power"? In fact it is likely that that higher power inspired them.

You live on a different planet and I find the air there toxic.

I do, metaphorically speaking, and I agree that the 'atmosphere' might be toxic to some.

this is the argument from common similarity. but since common similalrity can poit to a common d esigner it can be used as evidence for a common descent.

I think that you mean that since common similarity can point to a common designer, it can't be used as evidence for common descent. However, this argument begs the question, since it assumes the existence of a designer; you need to have independent evidence for a designer for the argument to be valid.

Also, there is the well-known fact that some animals have similar anatomy and genes but live in very different environments. For example, bats fly, like birds, but anatomically and genetically they are more similar to mammals; whales, seals, sea-lions, walruses and sirenians swim, like fish, but, again, anatomically and genetically they are more similar to mammals. Chimpanzees, bonobos, gorillas and orang-utans are quadrupeds and forest animals, and they are at least partly arboreal, like monkeys, but anatomically and genetically they are more similar to humans, who are bipeds, do not live in forests, and are very poor at climbing trees.

It does not make sense for a designer to design similar anatomies and genomes for animals that live in such different environments, and these anomalies appear to be better explained as a consequence of descent with modification from a common ancestor.

I thought the "does not make sense" argument was the property of creations i.e. "evolution doesn't make sense" (actually one of my favorite arguments).
