And as much as I may disagree with him on a lot of things, I've noticed that left-leaning blogs tend to take him out of context a LOT. It's gotten to the point where I don't trust anything I read about him on HuffPo or elsewhere; almost always, the things he actually says are way more tame and reasonable than the things he's described as saying.
Roberts is the chief justice; Scalia is a Supreme Court justice.Scalia is a brilliant legal mind and I respect that, but he has his own personal ideology, just as all the justices do. And although they would never admit it, it factors into their legal opinions.
IMO, being a chief justice is such a unique position, with so much power, these people need to watch what they say. As Scalia has aged, he has seemed to talk more about topics, he did not in his younger years.
If the cigarette butt's presence was merely coincidental and tossed there by a neighbor, why did the two convicted boys say that their friend was the one who smoked it? Why would they even mention it?
Yeah, because Lord knows nobody refuses to acknowledge their own mistakes.
But never admitting to being wrong does NOT make you right or even appear to be right.Being right means never having to say you're wrong
Very true and very sad. But that is not the result of either f these two men so why should they continue to be punished for it?Meantime, a little girl never got the chance to see lots of things that other little girls get to see
No, they would have been told that DNA found at the crime scene did not match either of the defendants. And had it been available, the only thing the jurors could have been told was that someone dropped a cigarette butt near the crime scene
Allegations of misconduct which is common in such cases just like the recanting of confessions. The prosecutor and the officer doing the interview stand by the process and the confessions

Funny thing is that the police and prosecutors have stood by their stories whereas the convicts have not. InterestingThey darned well better stick to their stories.
The current DA does not stand by it, however. He did not oppose releasing the defendants because the DNA "threw the confessions under the bus". I linked to that in an earlier post, which you apparently did not catch.
That said, your reasons for deflecting every piece of new evidence information is beyond logic and reason, IMHO.
So, I'm outta this thread.
Noting that said coercion has not been substantiated
If they were denied access to a lawyer and they were mentally disabled, then it is actually rather likely that the confessions were the result of coercion.
