Have you ever noticed that people's "revelations" often fit what they already believe, at least in certain ways?
I read a couple out of mild curiosity. Some I recognize as book titles that I have read and movies I have seen over the years.
There may be things in them that happen to be true. One I read just now had some truths in it - we must actually FOLLOW Christ, not just confess Him. But we all pretty much agree on that, I would think. But it also depicted a Christ who seemed rather unmoved by the suffering of those in hell -- which I really have to question why they are in "eternal hell" right now, since the final judgement has not happened. Are we to imagine that God places them in hell for many years, centuries, however long, only to bring them out, carry out the final judgement, then send them right back? Theoretically possible, but rather odd. But the part that really gets me? Demons gleefully enjoying themselves torturing disobedient Christians. When did hell become a satanic amusement park for demons? Don't the people who received these revelations wonder whether God didn't want to punish the demons at least as much as He wanted to punish the Christians they caused to stumble? Does that strike anyone besides me as really odd?
I think Dante has had quite an influence on some people's theology.
