  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

disgraceful decadence of liturgy

No, you are the ones who do not understand anything, you are the ones who do not understand how we feel, what is inside our hearts and honestly it feels like protestant telling us what we believe.

The sacrifice of Jesus is the greates thing has happened since ever, like giving birth it was painful, but the glory and grace for ever endures.

The liturgy has changed over time and places and most probably it will change again.

And the hipocresy question was awfully replied when it was said that it was the Gospel the one to insult.

As for going to an eastern or trinitarian mass that's simply impossible where I live but whatever I do I will never go to mass as a result of a challenge, it simply does not look like the best of attitudes. Anyway the point is moot.

. . . the Liturgy/Mass is not geared towards people's feelings or emotions. . . . WE must conform to the Liturgy, not vice-versa. What is happening now is unprecedented outside of protestant movements. It is geared towards human preferences.
Good points.

Before I go, let me ask you this: When you put on the Contemporary service, where are all of the instruments set up? In your experience in general, where in the Temple are the instruments set up? Please answer this.

Usually in the churches I've been to,, they are set up in the choir loft, as the group is so large....

At my church it's small country church, there is no choir loft. The instruments are set up to the far, far left of the alter....

In my brothers church, it's the same....

First off, the Gospel quote happens to relate to prayer and how we should pray (which I think is very telling, because while we are to pray to God with our hearts and minds, it avoids an overly loud and attention getting prayer). Matthew makes the comment (hypocrites). She, for some odd reason, makes the claim that I was calling her a hyporcrite. My response was that "I" did no such thing, but it was the Gospel of St. Matthew. Sorry if that is a jab, but I'm sure the merchants at the synagogue were not to happy to get their tables overturned.

It's funny that you should mention that it "seems like Protestants telling us what we believe" because I can see the irony in it.

The Mass, btw, is allowed in both the Tridentine and Novus Ordo. Until the Mass is modified again, I suggest we not experiment without the Vatican's approval.

In different places. At the Roman rite closest to me (and even at the military chapel near me) it is to the far left. At a more conservative Church in another county it is in the back. And I've even been to a rather liberal one (that was newly built) that has the instruments behind the altar. (Oh I pray that that is not going to be the place of them in the future. :prayer: )

Servant of God.... I never called you or implied that you were a hypocrite. Be careful to address the person appropriate to the comment. And, how can you say I don't understand anythng. You know nothing about me except what I've said... and one of the things that I have told you was that I have been through the contemporary scene. That may not prove anything, but it at least demonstrates that there are things I DO understand. You may understand what it is like to go to the Trinitine Mass on a regular basis and really be a part of it, but I "challenged" you to go because it seems from what you have told me that you haven't really been exposed to it. I could be totally wrong though. I will admit that the word "challenge" wa a bit crass. SOrry. All I want to say is that anyone would stand to benefit from going to one of those Masses/Liturgy for a while so they can understand where there brothers and sisters (past and present) are coming from and why we have such a view on the Mass.

God bless,

James

PS:
you're on the Canary Islands? En España? I see you are from Moldova (or your heritage is at least) so how is it that you are in Spain? Is that where you now live or are you studying there? Or is there another Canary Islands that I don't know about. Just curious.

I'm from Canary Islands and my heritage is spanish/berber. About Moldova I spent some time in Romania helping as a volunteer and what I want to do is to be the apostle of the abandoned children possibly in Moldova / Ukraine / Russia or Romania once as I get ordained, with a bit of luck I could even be doing practices there in summer with the IEME (Spanish Institue for Foreign Missions). My purpose is to lead the children to Christ and life not away of any Church, but I'll take those unwanted. Moldova is like where the Spirit could be leading me to go, most probably because almost nobody else seems to know or care*, so He had no many to choose from! :p.

When I cross myself I join the three fingers ;) when everybody says Amen I say Amin (romanian/moldovan) because doing that I figure I am praying in lieu of some street kid or tramp, when I do the liturgy of the hours (psalms) my prayers always go to them. Sometimes I even dream of a Mass in the sewers which is where some of them live, not the best of places, agreed, but I know the Spirit already lives there and partakes in their suffering., but I am sure you can't see what's in my heart nor I know how to show it

You must forgive me I am not going to go farther in the issue of this thread I have developed an increasing alergy to debates.

bet you have not watched that on the news and they are putting an orphanage under siege. NB: I'm neither pro Kishinev nor pro Tiraspol just pro kids, you don't do this to kids, caca (this romanian words means the same in Spanish).

This has gone on since the end of July, I went to confession of the

To clarify

I am not against the Tridentine Mass but I am going to defend the only spirituality I know, the one I was grown in, the one my entire diocese with its bishop at the head practices.

Last night I went to bed thinking PP had called my entire school, parish, diocese hypocrites. We love the Lord, we honour Him as we know and it only saddens me you can't join in our joy for Christ, but that's life I guess :(
