Well this is just an opinion i have drawn from the small amount of information you have given us, but I don't think you are losing your religion.

Humans are emotional creatures, we all have 'off' days, some days I don't want to go to class, but I still value education very highly.

This question should be moved to the outreach forum

This forum is just full of jocks ;)

I've been going through the same thing. Just ask yourself if there is anything that you've been doing differently in your walk with God. I thought I was losing my religion and I was just questioning the authenticity of the Bible and things like that. Just know this that if there is a god which I believe there is then Jesus is Him! Just a few examples The Qua'ran is 5th hand source at best and written 600 years after the death of Jesus yet it contains scriptures about Jesus, Atheism is a simple religion a new-age philosiphy that if there is no god there is no sin and if there is no sin there is no condemnation so I am free to live as morally or as immorally as I want I am my own god, and Dualism says that one god is good and another is bad and they are fighting a war in which we are in the middle of the problem there is that there is no moral standard so no one can say which god is good and which is bad. The Bible however has sources that were found within 8 years of the time they were written (New Testiment) and there are many different manuscripts (a few thousand for just the New Testiment alone) If even one of the manuscripts was flawed the others would back up the truth and any errors would be corrected through the others. Furthermore in the Old Testiment scribes wrote the Law down. They had to follow strict rules when doing this. For one (I found this interesting) they had to have been recently bathed. They had to write the Law not just as they heard it but with other manuscripts dating back to Moses' time to make certain it was authentic and not one stroke of the Law passed away. They also had certain measurements in which they had to have certain spaces between the words. They could not write the Name of God with a newly dipped quill and while writting the Name of God could not even answer a question of the king. This is historically supported within ancient cultures and the rules of scribes. So if you think that there is a god and want to believe in Him you've already got the right one.
Another thing Jesus said that things would come to pass in the future that are now 2 thousand years later are coming to pass. Such as mother against daughter and father against son. Famines earthquakes and the destruction of the temple in Israel plus her destruction (even though it hasn't occured yet it's quite obvious that it will take it from me I should know.).
You might be feeling guilty about something you've done also and that may be keeping you from God. Just remember Jesus came to Peter after he publicly denied Him and asked him if he loved Him. Peter said that he did and three different times Jesus gave Peter a task to do for Him. Jesus didn't even need to say that he was forgiven He just went right ahead and gave him a job to further His Kingdom and your His child too He'll do the same thing for you.
hope this helps Shalom.

The only logical reason you will lose your faith or begin to question your beliefs is because you haven't been spending enough time with your religion and too much time with the secular world.I found myself becoming much more spiritual just by listening to nothing but Christian radio. I even listen to it in my bathroom first thing in the morning and while I'm getting ready for bed..Best of all,the election is over so the political talk on Christian radio which passes for religion will be kept to a minimum.

Most people are negitively influenced by the non-Christian people they work with.Fortunately God invented a solution. He even created a commandment to force people to use it."REMEMBER THE SABBATH DAY TO KEEP IT HOLY"When you start to obey this commandment, you will find your faith growing greatly by spending one FULL day a week in worship and religious study.

SOLUTION TO PROBLEM:faith comes by hearing and seeing the word of God.

You don't have to be scared to question God. He invites you to reason with Him

Isa 1:18 Come now, and let us reason together, saith the LORD: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool.

God will answer you - but you need to be specific. He won't answer you if you just tell Him "I question my belief" - He knows that. But He wants you to tell Him exactly what you question and what your questions are, so that He can show you in His word.

My friend, has it occurred to you that your current questioning phase may help you to ultimately develop even stronger faith? If I had not questioned my beliefs a few years ago, then I may not have stayed Catholic. I have an awesome Catholic counsellor, who says that faith is about hanging on to your beliefs when you're surrounded by doubts. She maintains that faith cannot truly be genuine w/o doubts. Many Catholic saints also went through doubting periods- and came out w/ immense faith in God in the end.

So you see, sometimes, doubts can be beneficial. Does this help you at all or no?

Hold on to Christ with everything you have! Don't rely on your emotions. Sometimes God withdraws His presence to test the strength of our faith. We just have to hold on and pass that test. Obviously you used to be/are a Christian so you know what God is like; so why leave Him when things get a bit tough!? He is your only hope and the only way to Heaven.

Hello,

What were you questioning? Maybe someone here will have some light to shine on your question.

It's ok that you are going through this, and its just a testament that shows you that you are growing. When God begins to build us we are just a pile of stones, but God has a design in mind that is just right for us. As we live our lives in faith the pile of stones slowly becomes a fortress. However, sometimes when it comes time to put another stone in place there is some suffering involved. So, don't worry that you have lost your way or anything, these are just growing pains. If I may suggest something for you to do, it would be to return to the basics. Good thoughts, good words, and good deeds. Think things through until their completion(I have found that every question has an answer), pray earnestly often, and do some good works like working at a soup kitchen or at your church. Concentrating on these basic things will carry you through this rough spot and into the next stage of your spiritual development. Also, be patient, Rome wasn't built in one day but it was sacked in one day.

Peace-

I really feel for you here. When younger I used to have doubts occasionally, and a real downturn in my mood, just as you've described. It didn't feel to me as though I was a good enough Christian, until I figured out it was my mother who had put this idea into my head for years, and very consistently. I felt God saw me in the same light as my mother did. When I discovered she was not as well-versed in the Bible as she claimed, and I began reading more of the Bible on my own, and to discover the truth of how God views all of us. Read the Bible and believe it over friends (unbelievers especially), family, etc. Don't listen to the world. Listen to the Holy Spirit.

We walk by faith in God's Word. The others have given some good advice. I can only add that take time off each day to read God's Word and then pray about it as you read, asking questions and just thanking Him for giving you a way out of death through His great love shown in Jesus.
Find a translation of the Bible you are comfortable reading and then read it as though it was the very food you eat to sustain your body. The Word of God sustains your spirit, and has eternal consequences.
God bless....and I will pray for you.

lunatic As long as you seek truth with an honest open heart, it doesn't matter what you currently believe. I found my long stint as a skeptic to be very healthy, and God would have approved of my passion for truth. Even if I questioned him! God is not insecure. He loves you no matter what. Its the power of unconditional love.

It is only when you turn away from God -- because you're lazy, or want to sin, that there is danger.

Seeking truth, doubting, questioning-- these are not sins. They are healthy means toward truth. Eventually, they too will lead to Christ.

Hi....

I want to tell you that its not wrong to question God...it shows that you are seeking the truth...it shows that your heart has a desire to know the truth....it shows that you just wont believe anything the world throws at u....a questioning attitude is something God welcomes. The world and "religion" teaches that we shouldnt question God....but thats just a lie from the enemy who wants to keep u from knowing the truth. God doesnt just welcome questioning, He is also open to negotiation! What makes the difference is your attitude.....are you coming to God with a critique kind of questioning, or a seeking kind of questioning.

I myself am from a Hindu family, but found Jesus about 4 years ago...right now im praying for my family's salvation and i know my miracle is just around the corner. But what i want to say through this is that for all these years, i studied the Bible and i prayed about things.....but i still never had all the answers. I didnt know how i could prove to my parents why Christianity is the right faith. Also, Im a science student and i have an innate questioning attitude. But no matter what happened, I believed simply in my heart that the Bible is true and Jesus is Lord. And i told God that if this is so, then everything in this world must agree with your word, including other religions. On this basis, i started researching other religions for proof of salvation through Jesus. Before I took a stand for this in my heart, I thought its sin to look into other religions...i thought just like u...i thought i should just shut up and believe what the Bible says and not question God about anything....but this thinking only made me narrow minded. This was another lie from the enemy. The Bible says "My people perish for the lack of knowledge." So, believing in my heart that Jesus is Lord, i started questioning other religions and their teachings.....i started looking for scientific evidence towards the Creation in Genesis......and i started finding amazing answers to all of those questions! I finally was seeing the truth! I found verses in the Hindu scriptures that talk about a God-Man coming to earth, being born of a virgin, sacrificing his blood for our sins, and dying on a sacrifical post....this is in the Hindu scriptures.....i found that modern hinduism which is based on idol-worship is actually opposed in their ancient scriptures. What im trying to say is that the more i questioned, the more truth i found. I found that world medicine has put all diseases of this world into 39 major categories....and the Bible says that "through Jesus' stripes, I am healed" and it records that Jesus took 39 whip-lashes. Coincidence?? I think not! I found biblical scriptures pertaining to dinosaurs. I also found how the bible explains the presence of all these fossils and man-like creatures on the earth....and this explanation was actually provided 400 years before the evolution theory came up! :)

My point is that when you question God, God sees your attitude of questioning. Its not wrong to question God at all.....as a matter of fact, unless we question Him, He wont reveal His character to us....but we have to know in our hearts our intentions of questioning Him! Through all my questioning, i found awesome answers and it increased my confidence in Christ. If i hadnt questioned, i would still be in bondage and would never know the extent of God's truth.

I hope this helped. Be strong minded and do not fall weak. Pray to God to give you the strength during this time.

Take care.

Are you questioning God or are you actually questioning your religion it self?

My wife was a Seventh Day Adventist Extremist, Any and every thing her church said or did had to be true because they were the chosen church of God,

She would sanitize or just ignore any indescrepencies in the church.

After we were married we began doing bible studies together, It was hard, Very hard, most of studies ended in full blown fights because the Bible did not support her church's position,

She became angry at everybody and almost lost her faith in God several times,
Feeling That God had deceived her,

Sometimes it is religion it self that separates us from God and causes us to doubt,

yours in Christ

Greetings ,

First of all , let it be said , that when we refer to God , we are referring to our concept or current understanding of God . And since basically all of us have an partial / imperfect awareness of God , it can be a healthy thing to question or re-evaluate what we believe and why , especially if little or no spiritual progress is taking place .

While there is definitely something to be said for being tenacious and holding fast that which we have believed ; this only aptly applies if what we have believed is sound and effectual in terms of Salvation .

In order to comprehend this critical issue , we must first understand the very nature of The Salvation which God has wrought , and is orchestrating through Jesus Christ .

There are three major components of Salvation .

1. Grace - God giving Jesus for our Salvation .

2. Mercy - Jesus paying the wages of our sins .

3. Faith - The Holy Spirit convicting us of The Truth .

As we believe on Jesus and follow his leading , the bond of the deceitfulness of sin is broken ; and we are transformed through the renewing of our mind .

We then begin to think , speak , and act as Jesus did as he dwelt among us .

This confirms that God is in us , as God was in Christ , enabling godliness in the face of iniquity .

Wherefore , The Lord is not ashamed to call us brethren , and our soul is brought into harmony with God's Holy Heavenly Family ; wherefore an entrance into His Everlasting Paradise is abundantly ministered unto us .

If this Sacred and Divine action is not taking place within , but one is simply going through a ritual of observances ... Question and look to God and His Word for the Answer .

Freely sharing what has freely been given .

In Jesus Name . Amen .
