Then why have I been told multiple times on this thread that humans are apes?
I guess because we look excessively hairy to them, played on monkey bars as kids, and eat bananas.

...The only place I rarely got competing ideology was in church...
My thoughts were that I'd have figured church teaching would be more like academic teaching. Where everyone puts forward latest religious thought and you make you own mind up.

It's often not that though is it haha

When Evolution ruled, Darwin came along with a better one and they called it ... Evolution.

Then a better one came along and they called it ... Evolution.
When Osiris ruled, they called it religion. When Zeus ruled they called it religion. Then a "better one" came along and they called it ... religion.

Of course, when comparing these two lineages, the difference is that one has empirical, objective evidence that required tweaking of the explanatory theories ... the other does not.

Whether it is 90 or 98% it is an overwhelming amount of likeness.

That is your religious interpretations have you checked out other interpretations?

Did he? I don't know of anyone who claimed he did.

Humans are hominids not apes. Judaism, Christianity, and Islam believe we have souls. Hindus and Sikhs believe that both humans and animals have eternal souls.

Just to be a technical nit picker, I can't speak about Islam, but both Judaism and Christianity historically recognize that most or all living things have a soul. In Christianity what makes the human soul special is that it is a "rational soul". We aren't just alive, we also have complex thought and consciousness. This is because "the soul" isn't a kind of immortal ghost floating inside the body, but rather describes the full dimension of life as living, breathing, feeling, thinking creatures. The rational or human soul is called "immortal" because it--or rather we--do not simply cease to exist at bodily death. It therefore is preserved beyond death and is reunited with the body at the resurrection.

But anyway, I realize the point isn't to get into philosophical and theological minutia; I just thought it worthwhile to point out that the common view that only human beings have a soul in the Abrahamic traditions isn't quite accurate.

Exactly. If you are trying to produce evidence for a missing link, you will be sure to interpret whatever you find in accordance with that, to advance your career.
Right, so we all have an agenda and all are bias.

I'm quite familiar with the creation account but I still missed it. Can you point out the exact part?

if we are to look at the creation account in a literal vacuum and then try and paste things in never mentioned the leviathan would be placed in day 5 not day 6. But in a litteral vacuum we also have light preceding any luminaries... so there are tensions in the account to say the least. Maybe, this text was never intended to fit in a literal vacuum.

When Phlogiston Theory ruled, a better one came along and they called it Combustion Theory.
I don't know about Phlogistion and I don't want to take time to look into it.

When Evolution ruled, Darwin came along with a better one and they called it ... Evolution.
There was no ToE before Dawin

Then a better one came along and they called it ... Evolution.
You missed the part of how much Darwin got right nearly two centuries ago. Darwin stood on the shoulders of giants of his time, he in turn became a giant on whose shoulders we are standing on today.

I was quoting from Answers in Genesis: "Dinosaurs were created by God on day six of creation, approximately 6,000 years ago." Ken Ham has his own version of genesis. I recall someone labeling Ham's Ark Encounter as where Christianity meets Jurastic Park.

Yup: Clio, Euterpe, Thalia, Melpomeni, Terpsichore, Erato, Polymnia, Ourania and Calliope.

No verse in Isaiah says the earth is flat. I am not even sure which verse you are referring to. Isaiah 40:22?
He sits enthroned above the circle of the earth, and its people are like grasshoppers. He stretches out the heavens like a canopy, and spreads them out like a tent to live in.
It says nothing in there about the earth being flat simply that it is round. View attachment 298572
Looks circular to me.
You should read it in the Hebrew and remember that a compass cannot draw a sphere. You have to strain at a interpretation that goes contrary to the plain interpretation. Then there are what some claim to be visions. Why did Satan have to take Jesus to a high place to show him all of the Earth? Do you understand why that would not work on a spherical Earth but would work on a flat one. Or a similar claim in the Old Testament of a person that climbed a tall tree to do the same.

It is not a putdown to see that the authors of the Bible believed in a flat Earth. They lacked the education and experience to know differently. Science was at first accumulated at a very slow rate.

Why would we believe evolution is correct when mistakes such as"nebraska man" are possible?

Do they teach about all the debate among the Paleoanthropologists as to whether some finds are really what they are claimed to be? Or do they present all this as fact?
He is not much of a mistake. That is a false creationist claim. He was never well accepted in the sciences. He was merely made popular in a news story. Oh noes!!! The news got science wrong! HOW could that be?

That's not what I asked, so nevermind. I didn't ask for a lecture on evolution. I asked if the teaching is honest about the finds being contested by other scientists. I highly doubt it.
Any new finds are heavily scrutinized by scientists. Who do you think that found the one baboon bone mixed in with Lucy? It was not a creationist that made that discovery.

And they don't agree on what or who Lucy is.

If you continue to get your (mis)information from apologetic sites you will remain uninformed and continue to spread unreliable information.

Use a reliable educational science site for a change.

The Nature Education
The Knowledge Project

Here is what you can discover and learn about Lucy:
Why is Lucy is so special
"Lucy" is the nickname of one of the most well-known human ancestor fossils.
How do we know that all of those fossilized bones belong to Lucy's skeleton?
How do we know Lucy was a female?
Could Lucy's skeleton be small because she was a child when she died?
How do scientists know the species to which Lucy belongs?
Do scientists know what Lucy looked like when she was alive?
Why is Lucy so famous?
Is Lucy the "missing link" between apes and humans?
