Jesus didn't endorse all of the scripture as inerrant just because he extrapolated truths from it. Jesus quoting from a prophet doesn't make ridiculous claims true.

God is natural, he does everything the natural way. Nature is Gods nature. To God nothing is a miracle, to us mystery constitutes the miraculous. The huge problem is that scripture was passed off as Gods writing, so contemporary believers must bend reality in order to make the stories work.

a single mass, not on one side of the world, but covering the whole earth,
