  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Dad, I'm surprised to see you back on these boards after how truly obliterated you were in that "last Tuesday" discussion.

I don't see why we should take your word for anything that supposedly happened thousands of years ago when you can't even prove the world is older than 5 days!

No. Disgust might be a better word. Not for science but for diabolical story tellers and weavers of godless dream state pasts. But more than that..satisfaction...that they are truly beaten. Getting in a debate is becoming more like having a toddler step into the ring in a boxing match. Heck look at your posts. They have no content and you are not talking science and defending it in detail.

You don't remember that discussion? The one in which you were roundly defeated? I suppose it's happened so often that one time just blurs into another.

If I recall correctly, you scoffed at the notion that the Creator (praise be upon her hair) created the world last Tuesday, and any memories and evidence we have of the "time before" were created by her. You then couldn't give anything remotely resembling evidence that this was not the way things were.

(Wow, this is really easy, AV. It takes no mental effort whatsoever to refute something by saying it can take a hike. No wonder you do it so often.)

Oh, AV, I have a question about your boolean standards...

You say "if the bible says something..." How do you determine this? Do you just read the Bible and figure it out yourself, or do you study the works of Biblical scholars who have worked on this their entire professional lives and have access to a wealth of resources that you don't?
