• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

Well, I didn't make it . I started smoking again Tuesdays. I am so dissappointed and ashamed of myself. I will try again, I just don't know when. Thank you all for all of your blessings and prayers. Hopefully I will try to quit again soon.
Love in Christ to you all

I'm trying to stop too. I've been using the gum to good effect. I stopped on September 11 and had one cigarette on Saturday. Back on the wagon. You can too. Good luck.

will try again, I just don't know when.

Now, is the time. Take advantage of Yom Kippur--Happy New Year.

1 of the 7 promises (Joel) is deliverance.

Come on don't let the devil win, we can do it, if you have to star over twice in one day let's do it.

You did not start back , you just failed to realize you had slowed down..If you can slow down you can quit.. Try, what do you have to lose?

Try now. Don't wait. It'll be harder to beat it if you wait. There are always slip ups when it comes to breaking a habit. You just have to catch your self and try harder not to slip agian. You can do it! The way to break a bad habit is to replace it with a good habit. When you want to go smoke go eat chocolate or go listen to one of your favorite CD's. You can go read your Bible too.

Your in my prayers. Don't let the devil get ya down!

God Bless,
Sarah

Dear Jennifer,

There's no reason to feel shame. It's a real hard habit to break. I am on day two of not smoking and so far the patches are helping great. I try to sleep thru the hard times too. Drinking diet soda helps me for some reason. I pray for you. God bless, Tapero

Keep going - you can do it. It's taken me way too many times to get to the point where I can now say it has been over 7 months since my last smoke. Don't stress and feel bad - learn from you mistakes and what caused you stumble. Dust yourself, take a dep breath and start over again. You can do it! Remember you are not alone - God is there every step of the way. God bless, Evie

Hi Jennifer...See there has been no activity here since early Oct. Never the less i would like to say there is no need to feel shame. It is an addiction, so hey give yourself credit for trying. Try on 14 months and find oneself falling off the wagon. I am making the second attempt in one month. This is day 2. Hallelujah!

Either way if you are smoking or if you have quit, i pray you will have the strength, the courage to follow your instinct!!!

God Bless!

God bless all of us! I have been smoke free for almost 6 days now, which is a real accomplishment. I am starting the gum regime next week. For all those living in NY, call 1-866-NY-QUITS and you will get a free month supply of Nicorette gum! Hooray! :) Good luck and God Bless all!
