Is t there a difference between cannot sin and being cleansed froM sin through forgiveness?
They sound like two different things to me
IF is the KEY WORD. (we are ALL born sin, sinful , we, us, them, people, humans).....
SO? DID YOU, accomplish the IF? DID YOU, confess your SINS?
AND? Was God Faithful and FORGIVE your SINS?
AND? Was God Faithful and CLEANSE YOU from ALL UNRIGHTEOUS?
AND?
Actually Scripture says, a man born of God can not sin. And I agree with the Word of God.
Yes, I confess my sin, if I commit a sin.
The scriptures as a whole from the New Testament do not imply that a born again person "can not" sin.
We know for a fact that there are many places that Paul exhorts the Churches to turn away from sin, by the grace and power of the Spirit within us, so that we walk according to the Spirit rather than according to the sinful desires within our flesh.
What you are attempting to do, is take one word from one verse, and try to build a doctrine around that one word.
- Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God. 1 John 3:9 KJV
- Whoever has been born of God does not sin, for His seed remains in him; and he cannot sin, because he has been born of God. 1 John 3:9 NKJV
The idea of the new testament is that we grow up and mature, through the work of transformation and learn to walk according to the life of the Spirit within us, so that we learn to guard ourselves against sin, that we may learn to walk in the light as He is in the light.
The phrase John uses is "keep ourself"
- We know that whoever is born of God does not sin; but he who has been born of God keeps himself, and the wicked one does not touch him. 1 John 5:18
Learning to "keep ourself" is part of the process of transformation and is learned by becoming a disciple and following the example of those who have "been there" and "done that", and are living fruitful lives unto the Lord.
The idea that it is somehow "impossible" for a born again Christian to sin is not a biblical concept.
We are to come to the place where we do not practice sin, or commit sin, but rather we practice righteousness, as a continual lifestyle.
- Here is 1 John 3:9 with the context -
4 Whoever commits sin also commits lawlessness, and sin is lawlessness. 5 And you know that He was manifested to take away our sins, and in Him there is no sin. 6 Whoever abides in Him does not sin. Whoever sins has neither seen Him nor known Him.7 Little children, let no one deceive you. He who practices righteousness is righteous, just as He is righteous. 8 He who sins is of the devil, for the devil has sinned from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that He might destroy the works of the devil. 9 Whoever has been born of God does not sin, for His seed remains in him; and he cannot sin, because he has been born of God.10 In this the children of God and the children of the devil are manifest: Whoever does not practice righteousness is not of God, nor is he who does not love his brother. 1 John 3:4-10
Here are the two key opposing concepts that John is getting at.
- Little children, let no one deceive you. He who practices righteousness is righteous, just as He is righteous.
Are you practicing righteousness, or are you practicing sin?
- Whoever does not practice righteousness is not of God, nor is he who does not love his brother.

You are espousing being freed from sin, as a choice to practice or not what you have been freed from.
If you are in prison, then freed from prison, do you thereafter practice being a prisoner by occasionally returning to prison?
Your testimony is mixing what is carnal and what is spiritual.
My doctrine teaches that [born again] man has both a body, in which sins dwells, and desires to express it's sinful desires, as well as a spirit, in which the Spirit dwells a desires to express righteousness.

- Understanding this, is to understand the writings of the new testament.
- Misunderstanding this, is to misunderstand the writings of the new testament.

What happens with a very few (who are so pridefully disposed in their flesh) is that they read this passage from a translation that does nothing to explain what it is saying in the Greek. As is, it suites their sense of pride as they cling to it for dear life. Jesus warned... those who try to save their life will lose it - (lose their life in being able to grow spiritually in maturing in Christ).
I will switch to the Amplified translation. It could help to stabilize the insanity some leap to without questioning. All the verses that contradict their assumption should cause them to question, not turn a blind eye (arrogance).
"No one born (begotten) of God [deliberately, knowingly, and habitually] practices sin, for God’s nature abides in him [His principle of life, the divine sperm, remains permanently within him]; and he cannot practice sinning because he is born (begotten) of God."
What that is saying, in terms we can relate to?
Now that you are born again and a new creation in Christ? You can no longer function as you once had been able to before regeneration.. when sinning. You will not be able to continue down that same trail that sin used to lead you to with the same results.
If you try to? It will only cause a new kind of frustration. It will be like going back to a place you used to cherish as a child, only to find its no longer as it once had been. By God's will its meant to cause despair now.
When we are born again all things have become new. Where you used to play and frolic in sin before you were saved? It is now become a run down slum area containing sad, hopeless, and depressed people living in government subsidized housing. Those who want to abide there are enslaved because these souls try to live off their flesh, and end in ruined spiritual lives.
"You will not be able to continue in sin" (as you once had been able to...) You will not be able to continue practicing sin any longer as you once had been able to before the Holy Spirit entered your body.
That is the context:
Practicing sin vs practicing righteousness.

I also understand that the Greek says that there is a difference between practicing sin (unbeliever),
Practicing sin refers to Christians who practice sin, or practice the works of the flesh.
if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live.

That does not say.... The Son has obliterated and completely eliminated the effects of the works of the Devil at this time.It does not. It would read differently if it was so. That sinlessness will only come at the resurrection when we are given our new bodies.

We of our own power CAN NOT "NOT SIN". It is by though the Lords Spirit, His Power, that we become CLEANSED of SIN, made whole, and His Spirit dwells within us. And no God does not dwell in a Flesh body that Sins.
That is a choice we are to make. It says... "if by the Spirit." If what some here claim? That we can no longer sin? We would not need be given that choice!
19 Nevertheless the solid foundation of God stands, having this seal: “The Lord knows those who are His,” and, “Let everyone who names the name of Christ depart from iniquity.”
20 But in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and silver, but also of wood and clay, some for honor and some for dishonor. 21 Therefore if anyone cleanses himself from the latter, he will be a vessel for honor, sanctified and useful for the Master, prepared for every good work.
2 Timothy 2:19-21
- Therefore if anyone cleanses himself from the latter, he will be a vessel for honor,
The Lord has given us everything we need to walk righteously and godly in this life.
It is up to each person to chose, to take what God has given us, and learn to live in dominion over the sinful desires that dwell in our flesh, and the devil who seeks to entice us into his destructive devices, in order to destroy us.
Here are a couple of passages for you to meditate on and consider:
2 Grace and peace be multiplied to you in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord, 3 as His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us by glory and virtue, 4 by which have been given to us exceedingly great and precious promises, that through these you may be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.
5 But also for this very reason, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue, to virtue knowledge, 6 to knowledge self-control, to self-control perseverance, to perseverance godliness, 7 to godliness brotherly kindness, and to brotherly kindness love. 8 For if these things are yours and abound, you will be neither barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. 9 For he who lacks these things is shortsighted, even to blindness, and has forgotten that he was cleansed from his old sins.
2 Peter 1:2-9
Key verses:
- His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness
- for this very reason, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue, to virtue knowledge, to knowledge self-control, to self-control perseverance, to perseverance godliness, to godliness brotherly kindness, and to brotherly kindness love.
I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. 2 And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God. Romans 12:1-2
Key Verses:
- you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God,
- do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind
God bless you as you walk in these things, that you may bring honor to our Lord, and do great exploits in His name.

You just quoted, NO ONE who is born of God will continue to sin, they can not go on sinning......and you challenge that does not mean, can no longer sin?
Weird.
We would not need be given that choice!
You are given a choice, if and when you choose to submit to God.
God Bless,
SBC
19 Nevertheless the solid foundation of God stands, having this seal: “The Lord knows those who are His,” and, “Let everyone who names the name of Christ depart from iniquity.”
Again.,,, that involves making a choice. Believers can still sin. If we could not sin? We would not have to be told to depart from it!
I am not advocating sinning as some may think wrongly about me. I am just clarifying for the spiritually misguided who think they can not sin. For we remain capable of a sinning potentially.
Just like sinless Adam made his choice. Thinking one can not sin? It makes for a dangerous combination for something that goes deeper than simple sinning. It enters into a stronghold for doing and being evil. "Smiley" face evil.
