Free,
Ellen White was used by God to deliver a special end time message.
The holy spirit who works through Ellen White is infallible.
You are a former. Stop misrepresenting our position.
Let's try this again...![]()
Your beliefs clearly says the Bible is the final authority right after it clearly says "her writings are a continuing and authoritative source of truth which provide for the church comfort, guidance, instruction, and correction."In CHRIST alone...
- Is she or is she not the infallible interpreter of Scripture for the SDA church?
- Do you interpret the Bible any differently than she did?
- If you do does that make her interpretation wrong?
- If you do not (or cannot) then she does hold the position of being the infallible interpreter of Scripture
What do these quotes from official denominational publications tell us?
Seventh-day Adventists are uniquely fortunate in approaching the question of the inspiration of the prophets. We are not left to find our way, drawing all our conclusions from writings of two thousand years and more ago that have come down to us through varied transcriptions and translations. With us it is an almost contemporary matter, for we have had a prophet in our midst. It is generally granted by the careful student of her works that the experience of Ellen G. White was not different from that of the prophets of old, and that the Spirit of God in His prophetic mission did not function differently in the experience of Ellen G. White from the way He functioned in the experience of the Bible prophets.
What is more, rather than having in our possession only relatively few chapters or a handful of letters, as is the case with the extant records of the Bible prophets, we have the full range of Ellen G. White writings penned through a period of seventy years, embodying her published books, her 4,600 periodical articles, her manuscripts, letters, diaries, and so on. We have also the testimony of her contemporaries, presenting the eyewitness accounts of those who lived and worked closely with her and were well able to judge her work. Both she and they discussed many points touching on the manner in which the light was imparted to her, and how she in turn conveyed the messages to those for whom they were intendedin other words, the operation of inspiration. Further, she wrote in the English language, so we are not confronted with problems of translation and only rarely with those of transcription. (Arthur L. White, The Ellen G. White Writings, chapter 1, "Toward a Factual Concept of Inspriration," pages 15-16.)

The historic sanctuary message, based on Scripture and supported by the writings of Ellen White, continues to be held to unequivocally. And the inspired authorities on which these and other doctrines are based, namely the Bible supported by the writings of Ellen White, continue to be the hermeneutical foundation on which we as a church place all matters of faith and conduct. Let no one think that there has been a change of position in regard to this. (Jan Paulsen, "The Theological Landscape," 2002, http://www.adventistreview.org/2002-1524/story3.html)

The Bible is an infallible guide but it needs to be infallibly interpreted, to avoid confusion and division. When will the people of God cease trusting in their own wisdom? When will they come to the place where they will cease to measure, construe, and interpret by their own reason what God says to them through His appointed channel? When we come to the place where we place no trust in man or in the wisdom of man, but unquestionably accept and act upon what God says through this gift, then will the spirit of prophecy as set before us in the Bible and confirmed among us become in fact a counselor, guide and final court of appeal among God's people. (Roderick S. Owen, "The Source of Final Appeal," Adventist Review, June 3, 1971, page 6.)

The Spirit of Prophecy is the only infallible interpreter of Bible principles, since it is Christ through this agency giving the real meaning of his own words. (G. A. Irwin, "The Mark of the Beast," page 3, quoted here)

Although all the instruction given to the church through Ellen White does not apply to every individual in exactly the same way, there is in all of it the same kind of universal guidance that one finds in the Bible. Every portion may be read with profit today. Not every phase of Bible instruction is pertinent in our present situation. For example, detailed instruction was given for the presentation of sacrifices at the tabernacle and temple, but the sacrificial system ended when the Lamb of God was offered. We do not bring lambs, goats, and bullocks to the altar today, but every Seventh-day Adventist recognizes the spiritual value of a study of the ancient system of offerings. Paul puts it this way: Now all these things happened unto them for ensamples: and they are written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the world are come. 1 Corinthians 10:11. For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the Scriptures might have hope. Romans 15:4.
A careful consideration of all the factors involved leads to the conclusion that on the same basis that Paul stated, All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, all the instruction given through Ellen White is profitable for the remnant church today. (T. Housel Jemison, A Prophet Among You, chapter 21, "Ellen G. White's Writings Today")
