Did Enoch die?

In the hall of faith, Hebrews 11:

5 By faith Enoch was taken up so that he should not see death, and he was not found, because God had taken him. Now before he was taken he was commended as having pleased God.

13 These all died in faith, not having received the things promised, but having seen them and greeted them from afar, and having acknowledged that they were strangers and exiles on the earth.

Did Enoch die?

Enoch did not see death but he did die.

The devil has the power of death, Hebrews 2:

14 Since therefore the children share in flesh and blood, he himself likewise partook of the same things, that through death he might destroy the one who has the power of death, that is, the devil,

Dying is a 2-steps process:

1. The devil terminates/kills the physical body. Enoch did not see this.
2. God takes the human spirit away from the body. Enoch did experience this.

Ecclesiastes 12:

7 and the dust returns to the ground it came from, and the spirit returns to God who gave it.

A similar case is Elijah, 2 Kings 2:

1a Now when the LORD was about to take Elijah up to heaven by a whirlwind.

Elijah did not face the devil but God took him physically and spiritually up. Elijah did not see death but he died.

Finally, when Jesus died in Luke 23:

46 Then Jesus called ou

t in a loud voice, "Father, into Your hands I commit My Spirit." And when He had said this, He breathed His last.

John 10:

18 "No one takes it from me, but I lay it down of my own accord. I have authority to lay it down and authority to take it up again. This command I received from my Father.”

Did Enoch die?

I think he did. His physical body is no longer animated.

According to 1 Enoch 81:5, he returned to earth to give his writings to his son. The book does not mention his death.

1 Enoch 81:5/ Those seven holy ones brought me and set me on the earth in front of the gate to my house. They said to me: “Tell everything to your son Methuselah and show all your children that no human is righteous before the Lord, for he created them. 6/ We will leave you with your son for one year until (you receive) another order, to teach your children and write for them, and you will testify to all your children; in the second year they will take you from them. Jubilees adds that he was taken for 6 jubilees.
