I just read through this little fight here and signed up for this site just because I want to say two things.
1. To all the non-christians
It is good to be open minded and seek the truth through whatever means you need to. I do not what the truth is... so I am seeking as well.
Here is my problem... most non-christians will automatically denounce anything even slightly christian oriented as a knee jerk response. I think we need to weigh the facts and beliefs more carefully. There is no earthly "absolute evil" or "absolute good", even the words right and wrong are only based on thousands of years of social customs, mores, and norms.
So please non-christians, be fair, just and really think about the issue not about being "right". After all "Let he who is without sin cast the first stone." is great advice whether you believe in Jesus or not. Mohammed may have been a terrorist and maybe not who knows?
2. To all the christians
One thing I really envy is faith and I applaud you all for it! It is not easy to stand up for christianity and to those who succeed, I'm sure you will be rewarded.
To say that you know mohammed is a terrorist, pedophile, etc... is a very silly thing to say. You were not there, you did not know him. And believing what some preacher says about a man from a different time, culture, religion, and when our country is trying to rally support for a middle east staged war, is sheer gullibility. If the muslims choose to they could call Peter a barbarian, and Jesus an alcoholic! Of course these things are taken out of context and so is much of what has been qouted so far in the anti-muslim league.
One thing I see very often though is knowing the bible so well but applying so few of the tough lessons. "Love thy neighbor" is one of the hardest things I have ever read. This means the murderers, rapists, terrorists, etc... get the same amount of love as your family, if you wish to follow Jesus' example. No one can say they have done this even 60% of the time and be honest. I hear many bible misquotes trying to justify turning Iraq and Afghanistan into radioactive parking lots. These from loving christians who I know are good people. Be careful with where you place blame and judgement, because you cannot judge ultimately who is right and wrong. Only the one above us can. All Christians and non-christians can benifit from this one lesson...
"Do not be too eager to deal out death and judgement for even the very wise cannot see all ends." Gandalf - J.R.R. Tolkien
We should all concentrate on being better more loving people, who are more willing to forgive, rather than bickering on some forum about who is right and wrong.
