Did anyone NOT do Kegals?

Not to be contrary- but I didn't do them with any consistency whatsoever with any of my bambinos...and after 7 kids, I don't have any continence issues-except when I am jumping on a trampoline-and then I have to go empty my bladder forthwith

I think doing some Kegels-particularly the "elevator" kind are good for what Gracepaints wrote--to be familiar with those muscles and how to use them. I do also do Kegels postpartum for a couple months everyday.

also not to be contrary, I just couldn't be bothered and kept forgetting to do them... I may have done a few sets in the whole 9 months...
I was pushing for a long time with my first, but it was progressing the whole time and I wasn't in danger of needing help (ie, I wasn't getting tired), and I'm glad it worked that way because I didn't need stitches!
The same thing with my second pregnancy, except a much shorter pushing time, and still no stitches. I don't have any bladder issues after giving birth.

I would still recommend doing them when you can, because it's better to prevent a problem rather than fix one later...

I hate doing them. They make me feel funny and kind of turn me on a bit. Perhaps I'm doing them wrong?

It's the same muscles that stop your pee flow right? Then if so I'm doing them correctly... Maybe I'm just ultra sensitive down there?

Ok- glad i am not alone
They turn me on a little bit, or make me feel like I have to go to the bathroom!

It's actually lower, like Grace Paints said. You're actually squeezing the vaginal muscles themselves. They're good not just for pregnancy, but for life in general, and they help hold everything up and in proper position - including your bladder and other organs.

I did them, but without any true consistancy. I had no bladder or bowel control after birth until the end of Monday (so about 24 hours).. then the Tuesday after I could kind of tell when I needed to go, but it was a fast shuffle from the bed to the bathroom when I could go (and that was really hard with the labor I had.. I am STILL sore in my sides from the help I had to get, and that's 4 weeks out.).

I was told to do Kegels afterwards to help rebuild the pelvic floor, especially since I had to have an episiotomy... that it would help with bladder and colonic related issues. So.. I've been doing them some, but not heaps and heaps. I have so much other stuff I have to do, and just remembering all of it and hopping up at every 'I feel bad'/'I have a wet diaper!' and 'I am hungry' cry, I'm lucky I remember anything.

They have helped to rebuild, that is for sure. I haven't had any leaking issues since the week I gave birth, and that's been 3 weeks now.

I barely remember what they recommend kegals for, for urinary leakage, is that what you all are talking about? I don't do it, I think I might have once or twice and don't know of any leakage probs except when vomiting... though I find if I tighten those muscles down there just right at the time, it's not as much of a problem.
