  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Hi Pr1ncess, I've never thought of myself as a "good" Christian, just a Christian who has made progress in sanctification/growing in Christlikeness over the years because of the Lord's mighty and continual work in me .. e.g. Philippians 1:6, 2:13.

As for basing any sense of where I am in Christ on my denomination's standards/commandments, that's something I would never do, because it's not my denomination that I am trying to please, honor, glorify & obey.

If you don't mind me asking, what kinds of standards/commandments of the EOC require your obedience to remain acceptable them? For us, we consider any creeds, confessions, catechisms, etc., as secondary to the word of God, as we consider the Bible to be our regula fidei.

Thanks!

Yours and His,
David

2 Timothy 3
16 All Scripture is inspired by God/God-breathed and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness;
17 so that the man of God may be adequate, equipped for every good work.

Do you consider yourself to be a good Christian? What I mean by "good" is do you fulfil or try to fulfil standards and commandments required by your denomination?
Jesus said only God is good (Mark 10:18). However, I'd like to comment that the commandments we should follow are those given to us by God, not by our denomination.
