Thank you craftygal. It was nice to hear this from someone else...
In my personal opinion, I know that there were people in the bible that dealt with it. Elijah, Job, David, Jeremiah, they all fell under some sort of deppression. Even JESUS himself (Matthew 26:38 ) admitted that his soul was overwhelmed with sorrow because he knew that his death would be coming soon.
"And saith unto them, My
soul is exceeding sorrowful unto death: tarry ye here, and watch." -- Matthew 26:38 KJV
I don't know if any of you have been taught about this but I learned it and I just loved how God created us. Check this out.
Whenever someone in the bible mentions their soul they are speaking about their emotional state and feelings at that moment. The most intimate parts of yourself. So Jesus was troubled at that time in his own emotions.
HOWEVER (and please take a CLOSE look at this), what did He do after saying that his soul was "exceeding sorrowful"?
HE WENT AND PRAYED!
Great example for us to follow. Not only did Jesus seek God in His time of sorrow, but so did Elijah, Job, David, and Jeremiah. One of them secluding himself from everyone and asking God to take his life, one of them cursing the day he was born, one of them crying uncontrollably, and the other one mourning for the many things that were occuring in His life.
NEITHER OF THEM STOPPED TRUSTING IN GOD AND NEITHER OF THEM STRAYED AWAY FROM HIM BECAUSE OF THEIR SITUATION -- On the contrary, they held on even MORE.
I would love to bring you biblical references for all of these people and I will. However, I just wanted to share that.
Lately, it's been hard to put on a happy face... I try to do my best at it but it's just so hard. That is the reason why I wanted to discuss this. Some people, like I said, have this misconception that we cannot be depressed.
Well, those are my two cents...
