Peter denied Christ three times and was apparently forgiven.
My question - if the situation arose where one was asked to deny Christ in order to save a life ( another's or ones own) what are we expected to do?
Peter denied Jesus before the crucifixion.... But after, he went on to boldy proclaim Christ and was then crucified himself, - so in the end he refused to deny him and was killed.
So, if you were to refuse to deny and then someone was to suffer or be killed for that , isn't that almost pulling the trigger yourself? Hence commiting murder?
And yet, if you did deny Him and a life was saved (remembering that Peter was forgiven) is that going against what the Scriptures teach?
If it is ok to and forgiveable to deny then why all the marytrs?
I think Islam teaches al-faquiyya (?), that allows for the denial of God as God knows the truth in our hearts. (gotta check on that yet)
