  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Peter denied Christ three times and was apparently forgiven.

My question - if the situation arose where one was asked to deny Christ in order to save a life ( another's or ones own) what are we expected to do?

Peter denied Jesus before the crucifixion.... But after, he went on to boldy proclaim Christ and was then crucified himself, - so in the end he refused to deny him and was killed.

So, if you were to refuse to deny and then someone was to suffer or be killed for that , isn't that almost pulling the trigger yourself? Hence commiting murder?
And yet, if you did deny Him and a life was saved (remembering that Peter was forgiven) is that going against what the Scriptures teach?

If it is ok to and forgiveable to deny then why all the marytrs?

I think Islam teaches al-faquiyya (?), that allows for the denial of God as God knows the truth in our hearts. (gotta check on that yet)

The problem with this type of question, there really isn't a correct answer. People have times of weakness and strength, and depending on where they are at the time the situation arises will determine what they will do. The heart of the person is what God looks at, the intent. So, this really can't be answered in a black and white type of way.

This is a really good question - never thought of this

I look at Islam's God is not a true God - because they do not have Jesus as the son - which we know are both one

so for them to die - it is suicide and muder - actually killing others while doing it - our God would not want that -

What Peter did as others - was die and not in Vain - he died for God - by all the Christians doing that in the beginning of Christianity - that set off the big movement - people must of been astounded why were these people letting themselves be killed when all they had to do was deny God - they gave us what we have today.

That is better then walking in with a bomb strapped and doing it to kill others to see virgins in heaven of an orgie...
