  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Anyone can know the Word of God.

The BIBLE won't get you to Heaven...
PRAYER won't get you to Heaven...
only JESUS can get you to Heaven!

Satan knows the Bible very well, as demonstrated (ever notice that the word "demon" is in the word "demonstrated"? Just a weird thought...)when he tempted Christ in the desert. And yet, Jesus remained sinless!

Go Jesus! GO GO! Go Jesus! WHOA WHOA! Okay that was strange...

I just wonder sometimes how people can take the word of God and construe it (as in the example of hitting on women) and use it to make people do whatever they want. That is so very wrong to me. God's word was given to us to help us in our living example of Christ and to help others see through us the example that Christ gave us. That is so wrong. :(

Yep, it is... JWs, for example. They changed ONE comma in a verse ("I tell you the truth, today you will be with me in paradise." original verse) and it changed the entire meaning of the verse (I tell you the truth today, you will be with me in paradise." JW verse)!!

That's because the word demon at one time, was used in conjunction with "wisdom," or one who is wise. Just as the word genius is intertwined with the word "Genii." It was because of his admitted familiarity with his "Genius" that Socrates was made to drink poison.

Wow...that does change the meaning of the whole verse.

Forgive me for sounding stupid, but what is JW? Is it Jehovah's Witness?

it doesn't matter what jw did (or didn't do)

the comma is not in the original in any place.= it was put in place by those who wanted it to mean what they wanted it to mean.

I'm sorry, yeshua, that's incorrect.

And Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, Today shalt thou be with me in paradise.
Luke 23:43, KJV

Jesus answered him, "I tell you the truth, today you will be with me in paradise."
Luke 23:43, NIV

So as you can see here, the authorized King James version says the same as NIV, only in 400-year-old words. (Verily means truly, in case anyone didn't know)
And it has not been added in as you said, yeshuaslavejeff.

I think he meant in the original Greek.... but yes, the context of the verse even in the Greek is that the dying thief will be in paradise with Jesus as soon as he dies.

But speaking of the NIV, it has some references to the "blood" removed, as well as other scriptures. It's pretty chopped up compared to the old KJV or NKJV. I won't use it for that reason.
http://www.scionofzion.com/niv2.htm

By the way, yes God can use teenagers, and in fact I've seen God use even younger. there's a teenage girl in our church that every time she sings a song makes one guy cry and come under conviction.... the other (adult) singers don't have that same effect for some reason.
