• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Demonic possession vs. demonic attack

actually julie thats a very good point... people normally just quote the "resist the devil and he will flee" part but in order to do that you must first ensure that you are submitted to God.

that is a daily thing, like taking up your cross. when we live our lives many of the things we do can separate us from God especially judgements and unforgiveness.. when we step out of God's grace we have stepped into Judgement again, and satan has rights over us there, so concievably we can be open to attack and the building of strongholds within us if we do not then turn back to God's grace and submit. Then we can resist the devil and he will flee because he has no power in grace.

hi dee dee

my signature is a quote in Quenya which is one of tolkien's elvish languages.. it fits with my nick on here...

amatire means "hope"

and the quote says "hope, she will never fail she will always find a way" it isnt something that tolkien wrote himself, it was written as part of a poem by someone who had studied the language....

you can find it I think on this website... www.elvish.org/gwaith/language.htm

(if I were a Lord of the Rings character, that's what my name would be.. and I would be Aragorn's sister - seeing as one of his names was "estel" which is a sindarin word for "hope" hehe... )

Of course, the first post on this thread shows that Job shunned evil.

Is there anyone being a Christian who once or twice failed to shun evil? Does unrepented sin leave a window of opportunity for a demonic attack/possession? (Or, more likely oppression, which experientially might not be so different from possession.) Those who walk in dark places for the sake of the name of Christ aren't going to be quickly dismissing the possibility of a demonic possession in Christians... for all that those who theorise from the comfort of a pew will declare it impossible.

We have to be careful in our spiritual warfare not to be lifted up with pride. An excellent example of the use of humility in a battle is found in 1 Sam. 25:23-31. Abigail humbled herself before David and his men, and charged herself with Nabal's iniquity. She was not the cause of David's attack, but by her humility she certainly stopped him and delivered her household.

Not a novice, lest being lifted up with pride he fall into the condemnation of the devil.

Do u honestly think the powerful drive behind greed is human and not demonic? What about rage? have u ever exprienced it of known of any christians close to u that have experienced it? Do u think that it's a mere human reaction? What about godly people who molest children? Is that just them giving in to themselves?

Yes, humans are greedy, demons don't make you greedy.

Rage comes from anger, and it depends how you act on your anger if it's a sin or not. Anger is an emotion.

Don't know anyone who experienced it sorry, but have read testamonies.

Yes, humans react to their emotions, they can control how they act.

Demons, Satan, whatever do not make us do things, they can tempt us but never force us (unless possessed, but that's because you opened a door for them) to do things. Humans chose to sin.
