The Democratic Party released its official platform on Sunday night, to be voted on at the Democratic National Convention in Chicago, Illinois — and it calls for reelecting President Joe Biden, who was still the candidate at the time the document was finalized in mid-July.

“President Biden, Vice President Harris, and Democrats are running to finish the job,” it says.

Go Joe!

The Democratic Party released its official platform on Sunday night...
This from the article: 'The platform begins with a “land acknowledgment,” declaring that the convention is being held on lands once belonging to Native Americans.'

We do that down here at a lot of political and sporting events. Good to see it's happening in the US as well. Well done.

I'm going to take a punt and say human error; not updating the document.
I know they’ve only had a few days since Biden dropped out.

Oh wait…

The DNC's news release accompanying the platform says this:

"Today, the Democratic National Committee (DNC) released the final 2024 Democratic Party Platform, which will be voted on by delegates at the Convention tomorrow evening.

This platform was passed by the Platform Committee on July 16, prior to the President stepping aside. It makes a strong statement about the historic work that President Biden and Vice President Harris have accomplished hand-in-hand, and offers a vision for a progressive agenda that we can build on as a nation and as a Party as we head into the next four years."

If I were a delegate, I'd propose some amendments to the platform, changing wording from "President Biden will..." to "Kamala Harris will continue President Biden's work on ...". It's appropriate to praise President Biden's work, but the document should reflect that he is no longer the candidate. We'll see what happens at the Convention today.

Biden is not even staying the week to be there to see Obama's, Clinton's, Pelosi's or Harris's DNC speeches lol...sounds like he ain't too happy about what was done to him...and the protests have already started screaming shut down the DNC. "The Dems deserve the anti-Israel rioters they have created" (NY Post). 11 people were murdered over the weekend in Chicago...

The voting was online, so the delegates attending may not have much say in such things.

That makes more sense. Agreed.
They have explained it. The platform committee voted out the draft before Biden dropped out, and once the draft was voted out it has to be amended by the full convention.

Still not as embarrassing as the final 2020 Trump platform, which was the 2016 platform, unchanged, including its references to how terrible "the current administration" was. (A very similar case of left over language to the OP, though the time scale to make the change is rather different.)

Trump's 2024 platform is definitely an improvement, now that they've eliminated the anti-abortion and anti SSM-marriage planks.

He no longer wants to protect the unborn and the sanctity of marriage? Yikes.

There are some words about 'Life', but it's explicit that it's up to the states, and not for the federal government/president.

False. The 2016 (and carbon copy 2020) Trump platforms called for a national ban and indeed a 'human life' Amendment to the Constitution.

And from Trump's own lips:

As president, Trump supported a 20-week federal abortion ban, and in recent weeks has said he was open to 15 weeks.

Even before that, when he was running for president in 2016, at one point he said women seeking abortions should receive "some form of punishment."
