For the defendant or for society to receive justice. There are a lot of cogs in the wheels of justice and I'm wondering if it comes down to one of those cogs being the most important or is it more like all of the cogs need to be working in order for justice to prevail

Yeah....let's not forget the jury. The judge is really just there to ensure the trial proceeds fairly....and to decide what the appropriate punishment is. I tend to think that the DA is a bigger influence on outcomes. Look at California....they have a few DAs who promised not to prosecute crime.

To anyone familiar with crime, the results were entirely predictable. People are fleeing California and taking their money with them. Police have no incentive to do work that results in no prosecution. People have homeless people living on their front lawns. Stores are being ransacked by criminals in broad daylight.

All because DAs aren't prosecuting in order to appease certain voter demographics.

Aren't they supposed to be former military or something? This is the group we should be concerned about?
