House Democrats relent to GOP demands and move Supreme Court security bill - CNNPolitics
I contacted my Congresswoman's (who is a Democrat that's held the seat for decades) office about this Supreme Court security bill. I think Democrats must realize that this kind of extreme behavior by Pelosi can lose them elections.
Can you help me understand the entirety of what the Democrats were saying initially about the bill? What was their reason for blocking it.....the entirety of the reason and not just a headline though. Please. Because keith99 there suggests there was more to it than what you have presented previously.

They want to intimidate the Supreme Court. Oh, for an excuse all they have to do is say they have wording different than the Senate version and claim that is the reason. I believe they said they wanted the staff included. They knew very well the lives of Supreme Court justices and their families laid in the balance and swift action was necessary. There's always someone who will fall for the line, whether it be that the border is secure or that inflation is transitory or that it is all Trump's fault of Putin's fault.

How nice that it must be to always be able to tell when the stated reason isn’t the “real reason” things were done as they were. One could be “correct” all of the time!

It's not like President Trump telling his listeners to go over the Capitol "peacefully and patriotically." In this case we have the words of Schumer, there has been an attempt on the life of a Supreme Court Justice, President Biden refuses to denounce the mob outside of the home of a Supreme Court Justice, let alone arrest any of these violators of U.S. law, Nancy Pelosi held up the security bill for the Supreme Court until outrage from the American public forced her into taking action. Some Democrats can pretend there is a secure southern border, or that inflation is transitory, or that Joe sat around the dinner table as gas prices rose sky high while he was a youth, or that Nancy Pelosi is doing everything in her power to protect justices who disagree wither her, but people can only be fooled for so long.

I have to say it's hard to understand why anyone would choose to continually distort reality to fuel their own paranoia. You could spare yourself a lot of needless anxiety and expended effort by simply reading more widely and being a bit more reflective. As it is, you are quite literally creating an alternative mental universe, through a constant process of picking out the factoids that fuel your distorted view of the world, and simply ignoring or refusing to consider in a mature and adult fashion anything that doesn't. I fail to see why anyone would choose to live like that. What do you have against understanding things as they actually are?

This seems like a reasonable accomodation. Baseless grand accusations won't help you understand the situation more.
"Swift" action WASN'T necessary. Who was killed in the interim? This whole discussion only started meaningfully with the dude who wanted to commit suicide and take Kavanaugh with him. That was, what, a bit more than week ago? That's nothing.

I personally, and a lot of others, believe that was an excuse cooked up to intimidate the justices and their families. I think everyone should be able to be safe from crime. The point was that there are immediate threats to the lives of Supreme Court justices and their families, the administration is allowing illegal mobs and threats by members of Congress, and their lives are in imminent danger. So you pass the bill and then open for discussion what additional steps might be taken for staff. Also the threats by Schumer need to be addressed. But when you have an imminent threat, like there was at the Capitol when Trump offered 20,000 troops, swift action needs to be taken.
