3,000,000 people deported by the Former Administration - no public outcry even close to this one

Former Administration build these camps along with cages they put children in - not one member of Congress went to the facilities, let alone cried in the parking lot.

From the mouth of Obama - it's a good thing
From the mouth of Trump - it's racist

Bill Clinton on illegal immigration -

Speed the deportation of illegal aliens -

now they are migrants.

Chuck Schumer:

WASHINGTON - "People who enter the United States without our permission are illegal aliens, and illegal aliens should not be treated the same as people who entered the United States legally."

That wasn't radio host and former CNN broadcaster Lou Dobbs in one of his trademark commentaries on illegal immigration.

It was Sen. Charles Schumer, the liberal New York Democrat now in charge of the Senate bill for a comprehensive overhaul of immigration.

It's good to be reminded that the Democrats have always taken a consistent position on illegal economic migrants.

But I thought Obama was all for open borders and letting people in with no limits and no vetting.

At least, that's what the right wanted us to believe for 8 years and only now that the president is getting push back on his policies does the argument "Obama did it first" seem to mean something to them.

What is your point with this thread ? Only thing you are proving by this thread is that the current administration’s policy is bad but other administration policy was bad too! In another word you saying “ I know the policy is bad, but no one in the past said any thing about it is we can keep practicing these bad policy”

Obama immigration policies FAR MORE HUMANE than this administration.
What I wonder is if Obama was committing all these horrible injustices like caging children and separating them from their families, for years before Trump, why are we only hearing the right complain about these atrocities now?

They had nicer cages?

Why were the Democrats not visiting the centers? Why were the Democrats not standing ad the parking lot crying for the children? Why was it not an outrage and on the news every day?

It was happening - they were openly supporting

All good questions. I mostly remember hearing stories about a tan suit and Dijon mustard but very little about Obama's harsh immigration policies. In fact, we'd more often hear he was too lenient on immigration.

So which is it? Was he too soft or too harsh in his approach? Now I can't make heads or tails out of the right's position on Obama's take on immigration.

Because the flow of illegal economic migrants (which has actually been slowing) is not the same thing as a flood of asylum seekers.

And now we see Trump's approach to immigration is to use the same policies of his predecessor yet the right is touting those as wins when they were apparently not tough enough when Obama was doing the same thing.

My GOP friends said Obama was too easy on illegals.

Now they are saying he was too hard.

Hmmm.
Or they're saying Trump is no better than Obama was.

Not sure how that works in their favor but that seems to be what they're going with now.

What was the 'fake news'?
The Trump administration last year “lost” nearly 1,500 migrant children whom a government agency placed with U.S. sponsors.
Shocking news, but it wasn’t true.
...
In late April, Steven Wagner, an official at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) who oversees programs that place unaccompanied minors with families, told a Senate committee that a department office "was unable to determine with certainty the whereabouts of 1,475 unaccompanied alien children" who had been placed with sponsors living in the United States.

A fake news story helps expose a real crisis

So technically they weren't 'lost' they just weren't sure that they were where they had been placed by HHS.

Here, maybe the White House can explain to you how things have changed since Trump's election:

On Friday, the President signed a Memorandum directing his Administration to promptly submit reports laying out what further steps are needed to strengthen immigration enforcement, secure our border, and end “catch and release,” the dangerous practice whereby aliens who have violated our Nation’s immigration laws are released into the United States shortly after their apprehension.

Trump instituted a 'zero tolerance' policy that has been the cause of most of the crises, in particular the shameful treatment of children and other people in custody.

No one was ever for open borders. No one but you is surprised that Obama deported a lot of people. He was referred to as the Deporter in Chief.

According to governmental data, the Obama administration has deported more people than any other president's administration in history.

The key point is that Obama managed to do all that without widespread shameful treatment of people.

....implemented a policy despite the fact the current system was never designed nor resourced to detain large numbers of people indefinitely.

Border Patrol / ICE are being used as social workers and internment camp guards instead of their primary mission: illegal immigration interdiction and enforcement.

Might I suggest stop watching CNN and the like.
