  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

It seems like the Democratic professors here on campus believe that the world's going to Hell in a handbasket in a grand apocalyptic vision, now that Bush has been reelected. One of my professors is dog-determined in their view that now we're going to have a draft, and that women are going to avoid it by getting pregnant, and there's going to be a massive population explosion, etc, usw, usf. In addition to these ideas, there are the standard complaints about how America is not free because the President is against abortion, gay marriage, and other controversial things. What are y'all's thoughts on this line of thinking, are they wrong, and if so, how do you oppose such a system of thought?

It bugs me that people say that Bush is going to have a draft. The latest draft bill in Congress was brough up by Democrats. Only two people voted in favor of the bill, and they were Democrats.

I know what you mean by liberal professors being afraid. The Democrats just got clobbered in the election.

Let's pray that President Bush will strive for peace, protect human life, and lead this great country well in the fight against terrorism. :crossrc:

The key thing is: is America unfree because you are not allowed to murder your granny when she becomes inconvenient? That sort of argument always depends on the assumption that what you demand "freedom" tod is morally okay. There are many things we are not allowed freedom to do by society because they harm others. Abortion needs to be one of them again.

Re Gay Marriage. Why is it wanted? Only as a parody and counterfeit of Christian marriage IMO. Actively gay people want their lifestyle validated by the state and church. I would see no problem in giving gay couples the same tax status and property rights as a married couple. But the title and sacrament are a different matter.

Wonderful, I have my class with one of this for the first time since the election. It should be fun. :D

Haha. I'll have to wear my "Viva Bush" pin.
Yea, I continue to wear my Bush/Cheney 2004 pin on my back-pack while everyone else is sadly taking down their Kerry pins.

In my "out of touch with reality" opinion...

The Public school system, includung colleges and universities are on a collision course like "THE TITANIC"... the only difference is , this ship is UPSIDE-DOWN in the water...blindly moving in the path of an iceberg.

I say upside-down because where Jesus says;
"Suffer the little children to come to me, and forbid them not..."
The pub.school system goes out of their way to FORBID anything of Christ, except the date since His birth, to the children (including adult children)
because there is an "Elite" mentality that looks down their nose at THE GOSPEL, Gospel morality, and values.
so our education system is cranking out clones devoid of Spirit (flesh only)

having worked as a teacher in the public school system and colleges for 17 years I saw from the Supreme court down to the custodians,
The same mentality prevails...."forbid them yes."
"Without a VISION, the people perish."

When a nation adjusts to "Life without The Holy Spirit...all that is left for them is all the sins that flow out of the sewage of unbridled sexual perversion

"UNBRIDLED SEXUAL PERVERSION" is another name for what homosexuals
pornographers, rapists, and abortionists call "freedom".

I voted for Bush and all Republicans except one democrat, and I am part of the Latino vote.

BTW; Latino and Islamic are the races LEAST brainwashed by the "population explosion" fear promoted by the "elite".

as for the proffessors ...don't OPPOSE them, .......EXPOSE them.
