It's not wrong. Grammar and syntax changes over time, and its ultimately no different from using "Republican" and both a noun and an adjective instead of "Republicanic"
No, it is wrong because the actual name of the parties are the "Democratic Party" and the "Republican Party".
It is wrong, just because one word can be both an adjective and a noun does not mean another word is the same. Democrat is the noun, Democratic is the adjective. Republican is both a noun and adjective. This is not about changes over time, it's about applying an epithet to a political party because you don't want to say they are democratic.
People who refer to the "Democrat Party" expose their bias. That can be helpful in understanding their posts.
