Yes, Senator Menendez is still in office. He's the senior senator from my state. He's up for re-election this year, if he chooses to run again.

Normally, he's pretty consistent on immigration issues, supporting the DREAM Act and so on. The January statement, as recorded at Senator Dick Durbin on Twitter, came from a bipartisan group -- 3 Democrats and 3 Republicans -- and the statement describes the family migration issue as "chain migration/family reunification", thus reflecting the two terms that are frequently used by the two political sides. I'm guessing that including both terms was the kind of wording that you get when you're trying to make a bipartisan compromise.

No. You're probably thinking of Rep. Luis Gutierrez.

See, that's the problem. He tried to compromise. That's a capital offence in modern american politics.

Bob Menendez was also prosecuted recently and barely squeaked by a criminal conviction ... because of a hung jury.

Correct. This is, however, a different issue from immigration policy. I don't yet know whether Sen. Menendez is going to run for re-election in the fall, or whether he's going to decide that this is a good time to retire from office.

This comment seems wildly off topic in your own thread.

Imagine that. Info on Bob Menendez off-topic in a thread about Bob Menendez.

I don't know what your intentions are, but it looks like you are trying to change the subject because your initial attempt to denounce him wasn't successfull.

    Just adding background ...

... to the obvious hypocrisy and faux outrage expressed by Bob Menendez.

Bob Menendez is the one expressing faux outrage ... against Trump ... for the very thing he did recently.

If either Donald or Senator Menendez want to discuss chain migration, they can start with Viktor and Amalija Knavs.
