Yes, Senator Menendez is still in office. He's the senior senator from my state. He's up for re-election this year, if he chooses to run again.

Senator Dick Durbin on Twitter, came from a bipartisan group -- 3 Democrats and 3 Republicans -- and the statement describes the family migration issue as "chain migration/family reunification", thus reflecting the two terms that are frequently used by the two political sides. I'm guessing that including both terms was the kind of wording that you get when you're trying to make a bipartisan compromise.
