Hi guys

Honest question. Why are so many people obcessing over this date and using it in their arguments when it doesn't seem to have a scriptural basis and is provably linked to the Mayan calendar (and by extension, the last episode of the X files)?

Can anyone enlighten me to this, or is it a case of just shoehorning a popular date into flawed theology?

Mostly shoehorning a popular date into a flawed theology.

It isn't important. Maybe the Myan who was in charge of the calendars died and no one continued his work beyond that point. :) Lol. Maybe it's because we see some signs of the Second Coming of Jesus and the world is falling apart at the seams and so we draw this correlation to it.

Great question.

Frankly, I am very disappointed with the responses here.

Technically speaking, there is not one jot to do with 12-21-12, Mayans, and the Bible. It's idiotic nonsense.

However. It is extremely important.

2 Timothy 4:4
And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.

In a nutshell, 2012 is the "revelations" of these fables that men will prefer to truth. These lies are designed to make men worship the antichrist and reject Jesus Christ. Faked "aliens" are designed to make you worship the antichrist- (they are "bad", and the hexagram/ Star of David will be said to protect one from "alien demons"). "The end of the world" is designed to make you think "the Christ"/ messiah has returned when the antichrist is "resurrected" on 12-25-12 (the true messiah, Jesus, returns in 2016, IMO).

12-21-12 at 11:11 am is basically 3.5 days from Christmas - a reference to "he breaks the covenant in the middle of the week" - 3.5 days in.

If all that isn't important, what is?!!

The Mayans simply did not have enough time to finish their calendars. I bet they did it on purpose.

hey guys,

Just wait a darn minute here. It happens to be a very, very important date. It will be my sister's, and her husband's, and her husband's brother's birthday. Let's see, they'll all be 59? No, maybe 58. If I can recall that far back I believe she's two years older than me. But I am sure that the day is Dec. 21.

God bless you.
In Christ, Ted

God created the world in six days. Gen.1;31

The Sun was created on the fourth day. Gen.1;16(all depends on the Sun)

A day is as a thousand years. 2 Pet.3;8

Historically Jesus came during the 4th millennium.

Isa.33;3 showed the Magi he would be crucified at 33yrs old.

Isa.61;2 told the Magi he would set the year for God's Calendar

Magis therefore knew Jesus would be born 33.3 yrs before 5th millennium.

So they found him in Bethlehem 33.3 yrs. before end of 4th millennium.

Jesus resurrected on morning of third day.Matt.28;1

Christians celebrate Jesus's birth at Christmas time.

Jesus first preached at Easter when he was 12 yrs old. Lk.2;41

Easter of 2012 will be 33 1/3 years after morning of 3d day.

Your second paragraph is correct.

December 21, 2012 is the end of a Mayan calendar cycle. December 22, 2012 is the start of another cycle in the Mayan calendar.

In the same way that December 31, 2012 is the end of a Gregorian calendar cycle, and January 1, 2013 is the start of another cycle in the Gregorian calendar.

Although I reject any reference to Mayan prophecies as even beginning to be significant, the winter solstice of 2012 is not "just" the beginning of another cycle.

As I understand the Myan concept, (and I do not wast much time on such nonsense) there was a massive disruption of the earth at the end of every cycle. So the end of their current cycle meant a major disruption. If we placed any credence on the prophecies of demon worshipers, we would indeed look forward to this date with fear.

But in practicality, it seems to me that they did not continue their calendar beyond the end of this cycle because it was so far into their own futures that it made no sense to go beyond the end of their current cycle.

i don't spend much time on the mayan calendar either.
but there are two ways that they calculated time.
one way was with a big wheel and a small wheel,
like big and small gears interlocking....
each time the big one went around, it was a new cycle

the other way they measured time was pyramid style....
the lowest and longest portion of the pyramid, was for the longest amount of time...
billions of years
the second from the bottom, being a bit smaller, was for a very long time too, but not as long.
100's of millions of years

each rung stood for a cycle...getting smaller in time each rung up.

now we are at the very, very top...no more rungs after this one.
and this one ends supposedly on our winter solstice this year.

So? Why are we supposed to believe that this particular bunch of neolithic heathens had some secret means of knowing when our Lord would return, or the world would end, or whatever? Baloney.
