It was the only thing that the restaurants could do in order to open. You cannot eat with a mask on.

I have been transporting Covid patients for over a year, I have not caught Covid. I have asthma, so if I had caught Covid it would hit me hard.

Masks do work! Otherwise, I would have had Covid by now.
How can you possibly know that?

How can you possibly know that?

How could I possibly know what? That I would have caught Covid? Because I have severe asthma. If I had caught Covid, I would know it. Having a mask on works. Because the patient always had a mask on when transporting.

Only lots of people who religiously wear the mask still get it. Unless you're tested all the time you could have already had it without symptoms,... in fact the tests are not that accurate anyway, so...who knows?

I would have symptoms. I have severe asthma. There is no way that I would gotten it and not known.

Because. They were Covid positive patients. I have to be in a closed ambulance with them within inches many times of their exhaled breath in order to treat them and do vitals/assessments.

I have severe asthma and I would have known had I gotten Covid. Not really sure how that is hard to understand.

You have no way of knowing that your mask prevented you from getting Covid.

I do and I explained it, but of course, since you don't believe that they work, you're just going to dismiss that they indeed work, even when provided with an example.

And whoever it was that created a thread using this article as support should admit their error. There's no shame, it happens.

It is written...

11 Everyone who makes himself great will be made humble. But the person who makes himself humble will be made great.”
~Luke 14:11 (ICB)

12 Whoever makes himself great will be made humble. Whoever makes himself humble will be made great.
~Matthew 23:12 (ICB)

True Wealth
16 Jesus also said to his followers, “Once there was a rich man. He had a manager to take care of his business. Later, the rich man learned that his manager was cheating him. 2 So he called the manager in and said to him, ‘I have heard bad things about you. Give me a report of what you have done with my money. You can’t be my manager any longer!’ 3 Later, the manager thought to himself, ‘What will I do? My master is taking my job away from me! I am not strong enough to dig ditches. I am too proud to beg. 4 I know! I’ll do something so that when I lose my job, people will welcome me into their homes.’

5 “So the manager called in everyone who owed the master any money. He said to the first man, ‘How much do you owe my master?’ 6 The man answered, ‘I owe him 800 gallons of olive oil.’ The manager said to him, ‘Here is your bill; sit down quickly and make the bill less. Write 400 gallons.’ 7 Then the manager said to another man, ‘How much do you owe my master?’ The man answered, ‘I owe him 1,000 bushels of wheat.’ Then the manager said to him, ‘Here is your bill; you can make it less. Write 800 bushels.’ 8 Later, the master praised the dishonest manager for being smart. Yes, worldly people are smarter with their own kind than spiritual people are.

9 “I tell you, make friends for yourselves using worldly riches. Then, when those things are gone, you will be welcomed in that home that continues forever. 10 Whoever can be trusted with small things can also be trusted with large things. Whoever is dishonest in little things will be dishonest in large things too. 11 If you cannot be trusted with worldly riches, then you will not be trusted with the true riches. 12 And if you cannot be trusted with the things that belong to someone else, then you will not be given things of your own.

13 “No servant can serve two masters. He will hate one master and love the other. Or he will follow one master and refuse to follow the other. You cannot serve both God and money.”

God’s Law Cannot Be Changed
14 The Pharisees were listening to all these things. They made fun of Jesus because they all loved money. 15 Jesus said to them, “You make yourselves look good in front of people. But God knows what is really in your hearts. The things that are important to people are worth nothing to God.

Give Yourselves to God
4 Do you know where your fights and arguments come from? They come from the selfish desires that make war inside you. 2 You want things, but you do not have them. So you are ready to kill and are jealous of other people. But you still cannot get what you want. So you argue and fight. You do not get what you want because you do not ask God. 3 Or when you ask, you do not receive because the reason you ask is wrong. You want things only so that you can use them for your own pleasures.

4 So, you people are not loyal to God! You should know that loving the world is the same as hating God. So if a person wants to be a friend of the world, he makes himself God’s enemy. 5 Do you think the Scripture means nothing? It says, “The Spirit that God made to live in us wants us for himself alone.” 6 But God gives us even more grace, as the Scripture says,

“God is against the proud,

but he gives grace to the humble.” Proverbs 3:34

7 So give yourselves to God. Stand against the devil, and the devil will run away from you.
8 Come near to God, and God will come near to you. You are sinners. So clean sin out of your lives. You are trying to follow God and the world at the same time. Make your thinking pure. 9 Be sad, cry, and weep! Change your laughter into crying. Change your joy into sadness. 10 Humble yourself before the Lord, and he will honor you.

I’m not dismissing it because of my views. I’m saying that you have no way of knowing that you would have contracted Covid had you not been wearing a mask.

I can just as easily say that by not wearing masks, I haven’t contracted Covid. My proof is that I haven’t contracted it.

Maybe you just lucked out. Maybe you have had it. Maybe you have an immune system.
Maybe a lot of things. But if you want to believe in a piece of cloth that's your right I guess
I've seen people think they were virus proof because of the cloth go out and get it. If you don't want it, the only sure way is to avoid people period.

You can continue to choose to believe what you want. I shall do the same. Mask wearing doesn't hurt me and I fully believe that they work.

Gosh, it's almost as if some commenters here have read the CDC studies and come to the complete opposite of their evidenced-based conclusions:

Association of State-Issued Mask Mandates and Allowing ...

"Mask mandates were associated with statistically significant decreases in county-level daily COVID-19 case and death growth rates within 20 days of implementation. Allowing on-premises restaurant dining was associated with increases in county-level case and death growth rates within 41–80 days after reopening. State mask mandates and prohibiting on-premises dining at restaurants help limit potential exposure to SARS-CoV-2, reducing community transmission of COVID-19.

Studies have confirmed the effectiveness of community mitigation measures in reducing the prevalence of COVID-19 (58). Mask mandates are associated with reductions in COVID-19 case and hospitalization growth rates (6,7), whereas reopening on-premises dining at restaurants, a known risk factor associated with SARS-CoV-2 infection (2), is associated with increased COVID-19 cases and deaths, particularly in the absence of mask mandates (8)."
From one of the above referenced studies:

On average, the number of excess cases per 100,000 residents in states reopening without masks is ten times the number in states reopening with masks after 8 weeks (643.1 cases; 95% confidence interval (CI) = 406.9, 879.2 and 62.9 cases; CI = 12.6, 113.1, respectively). Excess cases after 6 weeks could have been reduced by 90% from 576,371 to 63,062 and excess deaths reduced by 80% from 22,851 to 4858 had states implemented mask mandates prior to reopening. Over 50,000 excess deaths were prevented within 6 weeks in 13 states that implemented mask mandates prior to reopening.
To summarise: 'Reopening + not masks' = 10 times the number of COVID-19 infections and 5 times the number of COVID-19 deaths compared to 'Reopening + masks'.

I'm sure there is. That doesn't mean it's right.

Masks do work. Period. End of story.

Well wearing a mask won't absolutely 100% prevent you from catching or spreading COVID. But no one claims that it will.

A lot of these people's complaints about masks and vaccines seem to be false dichotomies: if they're not 100% effective, then they're worthless. But no type of treatment or precaution is 100% effective at preventing COVID-19, aside from going off and becoming a hermit somewhere with no human contact whatsoever.

My “complaint” about masks is that they are mostly ineffective. This is based on multiple studies conducted well before Covid. I bring that up because there was no agenda in conducting the various studies.

My “complaint” about vaccines is that there are no long-term studies that show the effects on humans after two and five years.
