Debating on Giving Up....

My relationship with Christ is terrible....I Read the bible i pray and i try to get as much out of it as possible, but it seems as if nothing changes...Everything is the same...Its depressing...I keep on asking myself this question, "why does God want his children to feel depressed?" i know that he could possibly be testing my faith, but it feels as if its been going on too long....And i know that a christian shouldnt base his relationship off of feelings, but its just that i dont think i should be feeling this bad.....please pray for me, and give me any advice...thanks

*You* tried and *you* failed. Hmm... Let God do the work to fill you with the wisdom of his word and to form you in the image of Christ and just trust and obey him. That is the only way. Giving up is only going to make your spiritual walk even worse so don't give up, heh.

I'll be praying for your growth and also that God gives you the holyspirit to dwell in you and change you. It takes time, hang in there and wait. Patience is key.

Don't give up!

Remember that God's timeline and your timeline may not be the same. But His is the correct timeline. Right now you are learning patience and faith - and as frustrating as it can be, rest on His word...

praying for you, that the Lord will lift your burden of depression and draw you closer to him and fill you with his gentle love and peace
As for advice, try reading the "last discources" of Jesus to his disciples in John, which end, "In this world you may have trouble, but be brave, I have conquered the world"
It's where I go when I feel like this and I try to take these words to heart, that however we feel or whatever might happen, the Lord has overcome any problem that would separate us from him and his love.

Just pray as hard as you can to the Lord and tell him all your needs. Have faith that he will help you eventually because God hears all your prayers!!!

First pray "gratitude prayers" If you can't think of anything to be grateful for, look at your hands and start there. Do you have eyes? etc....Be thankful for the sun and the moon and the stars and the fish...name them all in prayer; "Thank you God for...." get it?

You ask: "why does God want his children to feel depressed?" Where did you get that? Who said God wants you depressed? Look that up in the Bible. Is that true? Can you find that in His word?

(FYI- Did you look up a couple of verses? Now you are "reading" the bible.)

Everything is the same...Its depressing...
Don't be too hard on yourself. Go slowly at first. Study will come later.
God will talk directly to you when you look up specific passages that relate to how you are feeling. He will speak directly into your situation and that is why we call it the "living" word.

No, it is written; "A bruised reed He will not break and a smoldering wick He will not snuff out." Isaiah 42:3 Discouragement, Depression, Distraction, Distress.... all begin with "D" and all begin with the Devil. See? That's one way to identify the source of the problem.

Semantics. Look it up. Feelings are okay. He is not going to ignore you because you have feelings...He gave them to you. After you come to know His ways He will help you explore faith over feelings. But that's later.

Neither does God. In fact, that is exactly what He is saying to you. You are a child of God. We all have thought God wasn't talking to us when we were first sincerely learning to pray. Welcome to the club. The truth is you don't understand what He is saying to you. He is telling you not to feel bad. He is placing the desires of His heart in yours. It's a process.

Okay, let's pray. Now. Father, We come together in unity and love to give You thanks for being so faithful. We thank you for the privilege of being called Your children. We thank you for providing food for us and a home and especially for giving us Your Word. We thank You for our salvation. We thank you for another day to serve You and learn about You. Let your love flow like streams of living water through this child. Please open Your child's spiritual eyes and spiritual ears so Your truth is made known and You are glorified in all things and all ways.

Now go little dove. Be joyful! Life is fun! It's time to fly!

I just want to let you know that you were heavy on my heart and mind last night and that i want you to know that i hope and i pray that you do not get discouraged my little brother...... I want you to know that i lift you up to the lord and that i ask him that he bind satan and keep him away from you right now!!!!!!!!!!!!! He is the master of everything that is bad and i battle with him every day and i have to keep fighting... i am a fighter in that aspect and i am NOT going to let him win cause Gods Love really really conquers ALLLLLLL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! so any how hope you have a nice day...

He doesn't want us to feel depressed! Depression is chemical. He has given gifts and talents to professionals that can help us heal. We lean on God and remain prayerful, but we must seek help for ourselves when we need it. The fact that you can't "feel" him, or feel stuck, may just be part of your depression, which can be treated, if you choose to.
May He give you patience and strength, and may He guide you to people that can help you heal. May His Spirit bring you comfort,and hope. May He help you lift the veil of depression, that He may once again be revealed to you. He IS with you. Be still, and listen.
