Hysteria merchants of doom are lobbying for mass population movement controls.

They won't stop me...

Yea, I think you a vivid imagination. Last I check, US citizens were free to move about without restrictions.

It's highly contagious, and it has a high death rate amongst the elderly and people with lung conditions.

Like me who has asthma. And as I mentioned I am at high risk because I am an EMT.

I was at Tampa General yesterday and was trying not to breathe too much because there were so many people wearing masks. I didn't have one because my breathing is already restricted from the asthma.

History repeats itself. There are always the ones that insist that their freedoms and privilege's not be infringed upon when a disease spreads it's ugly wings. From the plague, to the Spanish influenza that killed so many to polio--and it is always them that scream the loudest when it hits them, that the government is not doing enough. Never fails. The rich have already been calling to see if they can get a vaccine, they have the money. So far they have been told no.

How many suicides, car crash fatalities and deaths from the ordinary flu have occurred in the intervening period..?

Regarding the seasonal flu of this season, a lot of deaths -- estimated to be in the range of 18,000 to 46,000 so far -- since the seasonal flu of this season has had a much longer time to spread and have effects.

Make sense?

Historically, we give up our freedoms in exchange for security - financial, social, municipal and otherwise. That is why people worry, because of what comes next.

All it took was one terrorist event "big enough" for the States' population to bend over and accept what was given to them in the name of "freedom," while at the same time deriding and dismissing anyone who claimed the transition was dangerous. Then, we just forgot. The terrorists set out to do exactly what they planned, and they succeeded.

So, historically, the government doesn't need to do anything to take away our rights; if a large enough "scary event" happens, we will freely give them up for security, and call those who don't radically unpatriotic. All government really does is control the chaos we respond to - It's us who deal with things in a predictable way.

That's a socialist manifesto for the weak and scared.

Well, if Trump is a Republican, then it stands to reason that W. was a Socialist.

I would welcome 2000 W. Bush back in office right now...

First Bay Area coronavirus death: A woman in her 60s from Santa Clara County

This is the most troubling part
She was the first person in the county confirmed to be infected with COVID-19 without any known history of international travel or contact with a traveler or infected person, suggesting she contracted COVID-19 in our community,” the county said in a statement. “The patient died at El Camino Hospital on the morning of March 9, 2020. The Public Health Department expresses its sincere condolences to her family and friends.”

Santa Clara County has the most reported cases in the state, now totaling 24.

I've shared in other threads about how I went to Stanford's OHS & have a lot of friends there for college now including @Stanfordella from here. She is on a team for the Coronavirus response. They made plans back in January bc they knew this was gonna spread fast & they were right. Stanford is in Santa Clara County. They canceled all in-person classes on Friday. The classes will be taught online. Originally some students were going to stay on campus till spring break but then on Saturday everybody was urged to go home if they could. And to pack up their rooms in case they might not be able to return for the spring quarter. They'd asked that student staff like RAs stay on campus & keep doing their jobs. So a ton of parents & students told admin what they thought about that. On Sunday they told the student RAs to go home if they could & that the university would have adults on staff do those jobs. Students are told to NOT travel during spring break. Some international students can't go home bc they're from outbreak areas. The school is going to still provide the services for the kids who have to stay on campus.

Note that COV 2 is now loose in the western US most likely. The 4 community transmissions are likely just a portion, odds are.

Well.... Now we see how lose it was.

And I wasn't even trying at all to watch for it. I was before that time simply assuming the normal Federal Government functions would be working....

George W. Bush was a socialist?
Since many think that "socialism" means "the government is doing something that I do not like" the answer appears to be "yes".

Oddly enough government programs that they approve of are not socialist for . . . reasons.

This thread was created on February 29, 2020. Reading through it and seeing the posts reflecting Trump's insouciance is dismaying.

Now, on April 11, 2020 the United States has the highest death toll in the world of novel coronavirus.

The first cases of COVID-19 in the United States and S. Korea were recorded on the same day, but their mortality rate has been significantly lower due to their prompt and efficient containment measures.

But, but, Trump himself will tell you what a great job he is doing in regards to this pandemic. The last count is 116 times:
