Day 4, Proverbs Chapter 4

Proverbs 4:

I love the significance of "keys", how symbolic they are. What it reminds me of, is that the only One Who should have the "key" to our heart, is God, and anyone or anything HE allows "into" our heart.

God is very very wise.

This is soooooo precious. And soooooo true.

God's precious gift to us, right there, in His very Words, that feed us just like spiritual "bread" (manna from heaven).

Proverbs 4:

Guarding our hearts.

God admonishes us to "guard our hearts" for our own well-being and our own protection. He sees the danger of our lack of discernment and lack of wisdom, even if we, in our finite-ness, do not. He is a GOOD and loving and infinitely wise Shepherd and Father.

He LOVES us MORE than we even love ourselves.

Therefore, let's heed Him.

Proverbs 4:

Wisdom.

Wisdom is, bottom line, the most precious gift from God, for with His wisdom, given to us, we are able to "see" Him for Who He is, and we find through that wisdom, that He CAN be "seen" and loved, and "feared". And this "fear of the Lord" is the "starting point" in "knowing" God. Without it, we CAN NOT "know" God.

Proverbs 4:
Wisdom.
AKA: The fear of God.

It is through WISDOM that a relationship with the living God can be had at all. And there is a prerequisite to wisdom.

It is this:

"The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is understanding." ~Pr 9:10

There is NO wisdom and NO relationship with the living God without This:

The "fear of the Lord".

Wisdom = the "fear of the Lord".

Proverbs 4:

Guarding our hearts.

There's a REASON that God admonishes us to "guard our hearts". And that reason is because we, in our frailty and weakness are prone to find ourselves "enamored" by those very things/people that mean us NO good whatsoever. We turn a blind eye to those traits and toxic flaws that would and could surely be the "death" of us in sooo many ways.

It's sorta' like being attracted to "vomit" and then defending it LOL!

Well that there is "denial" in all its glory, isn't it?

Reminds me of a garden long long ago, where a woman sat, and a serpent (that apparently had legs at the time) sidled up to her and apparently was very charming, cuz when he asked "Did God REALLY say...?" Well by golly she found herself wondering the same thing, and ended up agreeing that maybe God was trying to keep something "good" from her. And then she reached out and took the very thing God had forbade her to take.

Now here's the problem.

She did not guard her heart, did she? She let this slitherin' lizard with legs charm and deceive her.

Now he surely WAS vomit.

The "shiny" kind.

Let's avoid the "vomit".

Especially the "shiny" kind.

Amen?

Let your eyes look forward; fix your gaze straight ahead. NIV

What is done, is done. Don't keep looking over your shoulder! I keep telling myself this....

Pr 4:26-27
"Give careful thought to the paths for your feet and be steadfast in all your ways. Do not turn to the right or left; keep your foot from evil." NIV

I need to consciously think about where I want to go, and not stray from that path. Bad things can happen otherwise!

I have found this out the hard way, many times.

Thank GOD that He can take those "ouch" experiences, and still work it all out for our good, as it is written.
