Proverbs 22:

The Generous Heart.

"He that hath a bountiful eye shall be blessed; for he giveth of his bread to the poor." ~Pr 22:9

God pours out blessings on the "generous-hearted". In actuality He chases them down and overcomes them with blessings hahaa

The bottom line, is that when someone is "generous-hearted", they have ALREADY surrendered their hearts, minds, and wills to God, and are in the realm of delighting in and desiring to bless God's heart.

When this happens, there is NO WAY or ANYWHERE one can "hide" from His blessings, for they WILL hunt you down and overtake you hahaaaa

What a most DELIGHTFUL God He is.

"And all these blessings shall come on thee, and overtake thee, if thou shalt hearken unto the voice of the LORD thy God." ~Deut 28:2

Proverbs 22:

Planting Seeds.

We are planting good seeds in our children when we pray over them, pray for ourselves to be as God would have us be as parents, and pray for, and minister to our children, and pray for our households (including our pets). In such a household, God's blessings and His extraordinary favor are evident, and as the children grow, those seeds WILL take root and eventually sprout and bear fruit, in God's own timing.

do not associate with one easily angered,

and get yourself ensnared.

This one really hit home. I had left an abusive relationship similar to the description here and she really did make me a lot more of an easily angered person. To this day I still struggle from that time. God is eternally wise!

Proverbs 22:

"Fasting".

"He that hath a bountiful eye shall be blessed; for he giveth of his bread to the poor." ~Pr 22:9

God defines "fasting" here (in the verse below). And it is NOT, for the most part, what we assume it is.

It is THIS:

Proverbs 22:

A Good Name.
AKA: Standing Ovations.

One of the most precious "gifts"/"blessings" we can give/leave for our children, and the generations after us, is our "good name". It passes down blessings from one generation to another. It is promised by God Himself, and it is right in sync with His promise in the below verse, that our children, although they may "wander" just as the Prodigal son did, WILL be captured by God's own "Shepherd" hand, and guided back to HIS path. He HEARS our prayers. He KNOWS our hearts. He BLESSES us with HIS Hand, always on our children. Therefore, what we teach our children and by the genuine lives we live before our God, WILL bear fruit, and that means that our children will return to this Godly legacy they were taught, and as it is written in Proverbs 31, "her children will rise up and call her bless-ed". This applies to fathers and husbands as well. His children will rise up and honor him. And of course what this verse describes in Proverbs 31, is a "standing ovation".

"Her children arise up, and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praiseth her." ~Pr 31:28

Proverbs 22:

A Wise Heart.
heart2.jpeg

"Cast out the scorner, and contention shall go out; yea, strife and reproach shall cease." ~Pr 22:10

God admonishes us to "guard our hearts". It is the equivalent to "discernment", which is a gift beyond measure from God and it is right in sync with "wisdom", its "twin", for one can not have one without the other. Another word for discernment could be "insight", but of the "spiritual" and Godly kind. THIS is what God is speaking of when He tells us that He will guide us with His "eye". He guides us through the wisdom and discernment (insight) that He grants us. It's a "tool" He equips us with, just as He does with the rest of His "armor".

Discernment will alert us to when it is time to "walk away" from toxic relationships, whether it be friends or family or others. Walking away does not mean that we do not "love" them any longer, it just means that, as a wise woman has said named Lisa Nichols:

"Sometimes we have to love others from a distance".

It is the healthiest and most Godly gift we can not only give to ourselves, but to others as well, and prompts them to grow, and to at least not feed into their toxicity, as we surely pray for them.

Letting go. Sometimes it is the most gracious and Godly gift we can give to ourselves and others, as we leave them in God's hands.

3 The prudent see danger and take refuge,
but the simple keep going and pay the penalty.

We saw that with Taiwan and Vietnam, they were prudent, saw the danger of the virus early and took refuge.

Meanwhile the simple countries just kept going like nothing had happened and now we are paying the price.

According to the editors of the The Jewish Study Bible (based on the JPS Tanakh), the meaning of the Hebrew of this verse is uncertain. They translate it Indeed, I wrote down for you a threefold lore, Wise counsel.

The 2nd century BC translation of the Hebrew into Greek (from the Septuagint) is a little different:

And do thou too repeatedly record them for thyself on the table of thine heart, for counsel and knowledge.

many things are negative in the Hebrew translation. Don't get me wrong, i'm no anti-semite. I want to see the Jewish remnant brought into Christ's fold as much as i do the Gentiles and my own family.

god Bless.

good sermon on Proverbs 22. its starts at 11:30 mins

Contrasting responses to the coming calamity
Luke 9:22 And he said, “The Son of Man must suffer many things and be rejected by the elders, the chief priests and the teachers of the law, and he must be killed and on the third day be raised to life.” He must be killed. Pr 22:3 The prudent see danger and take refuge, but the simple keep going and pay the penalty. Jesus saw the danger, was He prudent? Did He take refuge, did He advise the disciples to hide themselves? Jesus continued to keep going to Jerusalem and the cross, so was He simple? Did He pay the penalty? Was He a ransom for our sin? Pr 22:4 Humility is the fear of the Lord; its wages are riches and honor and life. Clearly the Lord was not simple, He saw the danger, but He humbled Himself to be a servant, to fear the Lord. There are people who do see the danger approaching from this pandemic, from climate change, and from these protests. They see the schools shutting down, they see visions of armed riots, and they see the collapse of the economy. So what do we do, are we afraid of Herod the Tetrarch who goes around chopping heads off, or do we fear the Lord who has set His face to go to Jerusalem? Are you going to run and hide yourself, or are you going to proclaim the kingdom? Did you really think you would cast out demons without a fight? Pr 21:12 The Righteous One takes note of the house of the wicked and brings the wicked to ruin. That is why it must be this way. The Lord is prudent, He does see the danger, and He fears God. Man’s sin is going to be judged, that is the danger, so He became a ransom for us to pay the price for us.

Proverbs 22:

What really caught my eye was verse 26....

This is a description of a "high-five" of two evil, corrupt numbskulls, giving each other a "high-five of victory" after they just trampled on, cheated, or robbed the poor.

God has a few things to say about this this very thing all throughout this chapter, doesn't He.?

I wouldn't want to be in THEIR shoes when He confronts them about it.
