David and Goliath

This is watercolor. Just playing around with a new look. It's based on the Caravaggio painting 'David with the head of Goliath' where Caravaggio based Goliath on himself. Should I keep going or is it better deliberately unfinished? It seems to have a lot of impact as is in the more abstract state.

The more rendered head does get the attention here, so in that sense the unfinished state may work.

But I think the other figure doesn't read as well as David. I haven't seen the inspiration.
