CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

How can you get to know that someone special if you don't date them. In the Song of Solomon it talks about courting (which is dating).
You can date without fornicating. If you don't date someone then you will never find that one that God has sent you because you never got to know them.

WOAH! Quite a many posts ! Sorry I havn't kept it up. To answer Sister Maynered's first question : no, you are not wasting your time. By watching my older siblings, cousins, & watching movies & t.v. shows, sex is implied in a dating relationship. Courtship may very well be a good answer for some. Yet, if we have a good enough relationship with God, it would be like Jacob & Rachael at the well.

Whilst I don't think it is my place to impose moral absolutes on consenting adults who aren't hurting anyone, I think what is 'wrong' is not allowing yourself as an intelligent human being to seek a compatible life partner but passing the buck onto a being that has so far not demonstrated his existence.
Personally, I think it is a recipe for unhappiness and divorce. But people can do what they like. I sincerely hope people manage to find happiness in such a way if they are going to use it to find a mate.
More often than not, it is drunk teenagers and twenty-somethings trying to get the key in the lock at 2.30am on a Saturday night that open the door to fornication.
I must take the oppurtunity to thank the religious for the term 'fornication'...making it sound so sordid makes it even more appealing.

There are many of us on here who are not christian. I believe that there are many paths up the mountain. And that we will only have peace in this world if we all endeavor to understand each other.
As for dating, your experiences with your sibling's dating does happen sometimes with some people. But it doesn't have to be that way at all! When I started dating in college, for quite some time we only held hands. And I married my first serious date and he was my first in many, many ways. I won't go into details.
The key is to respect your own limits, and those of your friend. If you go out with a girl and don't want to touch, you can tell her you like her but want just to have some fun without the rest of it. Think of it not as dating, but going out with a friend if that makes you more comfortable. But you do have to get to know each other before marriage. The divorce rate is up to 50% or even 60%. And I think a lot of it is because people go into it with stars in their eyes, and not enough real information about who they're promising their lives to.
