  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

You responded with a cut and paste that's way too long to address. I've tried several times to get across what evolution is and isn't. And I guess you couldn't be bothered to click on the link. Why not just pick one individual claim and lets start from there?

Hey here's a good one from 2001: A "scientist" discussing the long-discredited paluxy tracks and suggesting that there was a giant race of men who lived with the dinosaurs:

http://www.grisda.org/origins/03006.htm

You might want to rethink your source.

First of all, my husband (Tall73) did not cut and paste; he summarized in his own words some of the scientific evidence for creationism. If it's too long for you to read, don't ask people to give evidence; you obviously can't be bothered with actually reading what other people believe. No one can prove either evolution or creation in 20 words or less (or however many words you are willing to read).

Second, the Origins article that you linked to is from 1976, not 2001, and it is actually a response to a previous article that disputed the authenticity of the Paluxy tracks. The response was written by a scientist who was part of a five-member committee sent to investigate the original find of human tracks along the Paluxy River. In his response, he explained the results of his examination of a particular set of tracks. Some of the tracks found had been shown to be carved, thus leading many scientists to believe that all had been carved and to discredit the whole find. The author of the response presented the scientific evidence that he had discovered to show that some of the tracks, in fact, had not been carved but were actually authentic footprints of a bipedal man of perhaps ten feet in height.

The fact that you disagree with a scientist who believes that there is evidence that dinosaurs and people coexisted does not mean that he is not a legitimate scientist. Perhaps you could at least read the evidence.

I read the whole damn thing, I just can't be bothered to refute the same claims ad nauseum. That's why I keep asking for one piece of what creationists consider damning evidence at a time. And if you think that humans and dinosaurs coexisted, chances are that you are a terrible scientist. You can't "prove" any scientific theory, by the way-only disprove them. This is why creationism is not a legitimate scientific theory-it has long since been falsified by multiple lines of evidence.

Don't worry about it, they are thinking with their ape brains.......LOL
well, they are only primates with highly advanced behavioural responses and advanced communication skills. they don't have a reasonable soul or a rational mind, and can't make decisions and choices about what they do and say. this is what evolution eventually leads to if logically thought through. if we believe in evolution, humans are another kind of animal, and should do what all the other animals do, steal from one another, kill one another, do whatever's necessary for the fittest to survive. why not kill off people when they get old and sick? the whole of hitler's regime and all his crimes are fully justifiable using evolution. think it through.

Or it might be that being sociable and even altruistic has a selective advantage that has become more pronounced in some species. In other words, you are wrong. Besides, the obligatory hitler=evolution comment was made on like page 1.

i never said hitler=evolution. i said hitler's actions were justifiable with evolution, which, of course, they are.
if you're just an animal, you don't have an immortal soul. in that case, when you die, you're dead. why are you here? why did Christ die for you??? is religion all just a psychological phenomenon? what about faith? please explain these with evolution???

Evolution is a scientific theory that describes some natural phenomenon. It is by definition amoral, not immoral. You may think that nature is immoral, but our best description of it is not, to my knowledge.

you still haven't explained faith using evolution. if we're animals, we don't have immortal souls, so thinking about spiritual things is by definition useless.
