Dark Side of the Moon (Pink Floyd)

My review of Pink Floyd's album, Dark Side of the Moon:

"Money" plus filler. THE END

Sorry. That's sort of the way I've always viewed this album. I think they are a great band. But I never understood the fascination with this album. Okay, I guess "Time" is a pretty good song too. But there are some songs on this so-called classic that I can't stand, such as the title track.

What do you think of this band/album?

I had a physics teacher who would play this album sometimes when we were working in class. I never really got into it the way others did but maybe I need to revisit it and listen without distraction.

I like Pink Floyd. They have a a good sound. Their music is dreamlike, and often inspiring. Dark Side of The Moon is somewhat overrated, but not as much as The Wall IMO.

Dark Side of the Moon: In my High school days I played it over and over, never cared much for the money song, but the music did put me in an alternate state of mind....

I think this album is also famous because, I think Syd, was laughing in the background of one of the songs. Has sort of a losing mind sound and I guess thats what was happening. He tried to be so original that he finally pushed himself over the edge. I know I read that somewhere.

Not my favorite PF album but I liked Money, Time, The Great Gig in the Sky... though I like that song mainly because Clare Torry is a little white lady and she has the voice of a large black lady.

I liked listening to this album while matched with The Wizard of Oz. Awesome.

Us and Them is a favorite. I think that Dark Side of the Moon is so hyped up because supposedly it is similar to The Wizard of Oz when you play the album while watching the movie.

Something like that.

Dark Side of the Moon and to a greater extent Pink Floyd were just things I couldn't get into. I just do not like them. It's just everybody was always like "they're so deep and trippy" and to me it wasn't. It just always annoyed me the worship leveled at Pink Floyd they just seem so self-important and pretentious. I just could never get into them and Dark Side of the Moon was the album that caused me the most pause.

Oh no you d'in't! This is probably my favorite album. The soundscapes are unparalleled, and Time has what is probably the greatest guitar solo ever played. It's glorious.

I used to feel exactly the same way when I first got the album, but after listening to the album more the other songs grew on me. Much like The Wall, it's an album that's much more enjoyable when listened to as a whole.
