Dark cloud on the horizon

Some background: for several weeks I was not consciously dreaming at all. Then I began dreaming again, but generally I was too wasted to record the dreams during the night and could not remember them in the morning. And almost all the dreams were quite vague and fragmentary. I didn’t know if this was just a season of rest, or the enemy trying to suppress me. Of late, however, I've started to dream again, and have recorded a few, but I don’t know how significant they are.

But now, I had a dream last night that was disturbing. Again it was vague and what I remember is fragmentary, but this stuck, even without recording it.

There was a gray sky. I was looking at the horizon, where arose an extremely black cloud formation. It was fairly small to me because of the distance, but it was clear that it actually was large. It had a very ominous feel to it.

Then the scene changed to show many cars on a curved highway, rushing to escape a city. I then focused back on the cloud for a time, and again its blackness was emphasized. Then the road scene presented itself again. It was the same portion of the same road, exactly the same as before, but now I was viewing it from much closer than before. The speed and urgency of the cars was emphasized.

I don’t know what the cloud portends. The escaping cars, however, point to something that affects not just me personally, but a city, or the nation. Viewing the cloud twice is a confirmation that indeed it is there, and evil. I'm not certain, however, if the second viewing of the cloud showed it closer. Seeing the cars rushing closer the second time emphasized the seriousness of the matter, and their increased speed speaks of a level of near-panic.

I get plenty of opposition dreams, but not often dreams with this kind of foreboding. I believe this is a season where we must be in serious intercession for the nation. It may be that the cloud was not shown to advance because of our prayers.

I can't say it pertains to the USA, but the country is on my mind much, and the cars point to some societal event. The rest is surmising on my part.

I have had similar experience as of late (except the part about being wasted). I think this is a season too and we remember what's important. If not then the Lord can reveal it again in a more memorable way if we ask, seek and find.

I remember Jesus saying to flee to the mountains (people getting out of the city). Some friends of mine have recently moved out of a large city into the country because the Lord told them to do this...as others we know have gotten the same message...even believers in other states

Interesting. I have friends who moved to Kentucky for the same reason. But they now are back in NY, and not sure of where they should go. They seem to feel their KY season is coming to a close. Their main focus is on preparedness. I told her of this dream, and it really stuck in her mind. No one is sure exactly what it might portend, but the general meaning is clear.

cities are known for riots and violence when there is a crisis. that'd be a good reason to stay out.

I wouldn't want to be stuck in a city when disaster, violence and or war breaks out, but each person has to discern where they should to locate themselves. The US is so close to something occuring that will affect the whole world. Anyone else sensing this?

Yes I am and often meet people who are preparing for their physical needs by solar, food storage, etc...But I think being prepared and being set free from bondages is way bigger right now...to be free to serve and to be effective.

Our minds go all sorts of places with warnings we have heard and realities that face us. I'd like to bring out some details in the general picture you saw, just to see if more depth comes to understanding the dream.


There was a gray sky.

Gray is a vague color. It is formed by the combination of other colors coming together and muddying, merging, overlapping and softening definition. Compare with a bright magenta or yellow that would stand out and you know exactly what it intends. Gray does not make its intents known; or combines intents and homogenizes, making all contributions of light equal and selfless.

It hides definition, so an intent against a land may be well hidden in the stirred clutter and vagueness. Sometimes it is dismal, sometimes a dull fog.

I was looking at the horizon,

Usually an outlook... things coming in the distance. Future too small to see fully and clearly right now. Many people get visions of Jesus coming in the distant horizon, signifying close enough to remain alert but not close enough to know what to expect yet. (You were looking, though).

Much more distinct than the gray. Active, foreboding, threatening, and taking shape. The villains in movies wear black, showing we make that association; but black is also what we see -- or fail to see -- when there is an absence of light.

If God is light, and shining like the sun, full of grace and truth... then absence of His light leads to despair, fear, lies and deception, bitter unforgiveness, retaliation and slander, greed and corruption. It also limits truth, and causes us to not know whom to trust.

These days we get so much information thrown at us, that we sometimes give up at the chaos. For instance, how does one know whom to vote for when we know people have been hired to dig up dirt on opponents, distort realities, pump numbers and skew statistics before each election? The facts are often falsehoods, and inserted to increase chaos.

How does one know how to trade stocks and commodities if information has been slanted to stabilize the market? How does a consumer buy a product or choose a school when slick advertising makes the most savvy spender sway the potential client base? Darkness, utter informational darkness and lack of illumination.

Doing work in the cloud? Naw, too obvious.
A cloud hovers above people and brings shade or rain. People can't control how rain will fall -- whether their crops will survive or their ball games will get rained out. It is so high up that it seems to have authority over us.

But a cloud is almost completely intangible. It is a mass of water particles, and electronic charges. A little bit of dust. A cloud of all these particles can appear so looming and ominous, but then scatter like a school of fish. Many make up the illusion of one.

The escaping cars,

People trying to be in control separately. A lot of buses would have shown people pooling resources and plans together, but here people competed against each other to get ahead.

however, point to something that affects not just me personally, but a city, or the nation.

It reminded me of the Connecticut shoreline that extends beyond NYC. The city sprawl extends on and on without definition, encompassing a hundred miles of cities, with a few roads that are straight enough to use for evacuation. And then there's Long Island -- all the people who would need to go through NYC to get somewhere else. Downward from NYC continues Newark, Philly, Baltimore, DC, Richmond (I left some out, sorry).. one big city.

Viewing the cloud twice is a confirmation that indeed it is there, and evil. I'm not certain, however, if the second viewing of the cloud showed it closer.

If the cloud is made up of particles, or offsite activity, or intent, or illusion... then maybe the cloud was already here and didn't need to be closer. It was above, unreachable, intangible like a computer virus, internet chatter, or shareholding ownership.

Think about how quickly negativity can spread. Or propaganda, social hatred, fear of intruders. A little stirring up goes a long way, because people communicate virally.

Panic is a fear response. It is not always a reality, but then becomes a reality for others and for one's own well-being. Anxiety does not improve a situation. People could have joined in a mutual plan to overcome this threat, but instead they were all out for themselves, not knowing where to go but out.

That's my sense as well. I believe in and practice physical preparedness, but my emphasis is on the spiritual, and I'm basically trusting that God will make a way through whatever comes. I try to let nothing affect my peace.

Reading Parsley's post, another detail came to me: the highway had guardrails. This may point to the constrained quality of the escape.

That gave me more of a pit in my stomach than the dark cloud, lol.

I spent many years trying to stay prepared for storms and disasters, and ended up finding that these things became an obstacle in themselves. They took up space, needed rotating, created clutter that kept me from finding other things, and generated moths.

While I still believe we need to keep the basics, we also need to dismiss dependence on them and stay light on our feet. If we cling too closely to things we have stored, then we might not be generous with what God has given us, during a time when His glory should pervade.

I find it useful that you named people in KY -- I have also seen people in VA and the midsection of the eastern US get a different sort of forewarning than those further north or west. People near New Madrid seem to be feeling like they need to move. People near the Great Lakes are getting dreams and visions related to flooding and changes in water borders. And then the west coast continues to get their perpetual quake preparedness alerts.

AMEN TO THAT!!! John Paul Jackson said that in his vision people had empty pots and prayed over them and when they took off the lids there was food inside. Our God is our source...but even the Israelites had to "gather" the manna HE sent.

This is something I've been seeking balance on. Last year, my first year of gardening, I was totally into it. This year, it's just not there. The garden is doing ok, I'm getting better at it, etc, but I feel it's not the main thing I'm supposed to be doing.

Yeah, I know what you mean about the "main thing". I need to learn to love people unconditionally...people that are different...to see beyond the superficial and to love them in spite of all the STUFF on them or not on them.

I need to love people not based on their performance either, I want to be free to love no matter what. Even tough love is still powerful love.

The nation veers closer and closer to falling apart, and the people are going down with it. The worst part is that now the decline has generational acceleration behind it, and this is very hard to stop. The foundations are seriously eroded. I think we will have ample opportunities to love the unlovely as this dramatic scene unfolds.

The Spirit of God has been impressing on me that the only way to really "prepare" for this is on my knees. All the material provisions – the gold, the food laid up, etc – can come to nothing in a minute. I've personally seen wealth take wings and fly, just as the scripture warns. The only thing that is going to count is whether we are spiritually prepared for what's coming on the nation. The world is looking for a people with the "tongues of disciples, to strengthen the weary with a word". When they are found, they will flock into the Kingdom. But what a struggle sometimes to get into the prayer closet.

It's funny. My mother used to rib me when I was young about how she couldn't get me into the bath tub, but once I was in it I had so much fun she couldn't get me out. I'm still that way sometimes, with prayer. Lord, draw me to You, for Your name's sake. Amen.

It's on the end time troubles and preparing (Jesus told him to store enough food for 3 years because the highways would be destroyed and food could not be delivered.) He talks about praying, fasting, studying, feeding the poor, seeking God and also storing food and water.
