In the last several decades we have had several in the church rise up with timetables of varied complicated sorts, in an attempt to declare the time of the coming of Christ. These same men have every time failed miserably and brought much shame and ridicule to the name of Christ, so it is indeed good to be wise and not hasty about such things, and yet, since God does on occasion give us such things, it is also wise not to discount a possibility when it apparently fits. I believe many times satan will 'flood the market' with false conjecture just to discredit 'true' tables we DO have to work with. Because there is a tendency by some to get carried away and then proven wrong, many do not take the church seriously for things such as this.

Onm a personal level i like a lot of things about Hal Lindsay, for instance. There were many things in his books i find true and profound. On the other hand he was one such famous writer declaring that 1988 would likely be the year of the coming of Christ. But the damage goes beyond the obvious. The truth is that there are timetables drawn out very explicitly in the scriptures, which are VERY valid and timely in these end days.

Jeremiah was given a timetable by God just before Israels' captivity in Babylon. It foretold the captivity and very plainly said that it would last 70 years. Sure enough Israel went into captivity and 70 years later they were released form captivity. We later find reference in Daniel concerning 70 WEEKS of years which were loosely associated by 'type' with Jeremiahs prophecy of the 70 year captivity.

Daniel was given 3 timetables. The first we will look into is the timetable of the 1290 and the 1335 days.

KJV
Daniel 12
11 And from the time that the daily sacrifice shall be taken away, and the abomination that maketh desolate set up, there shall be a thousand two hundred and ninety days.
12 Blessed is he that waiteth, and cometh to the thousand three hundred and five and thirty days.

First we must realize that the taking away of the temple sacrifice of course does not occur at the beginning of the tribulation (by this I refer to the 70th week of Daniel) but sometime in the midst of it. The temple must first be rebuilt which will only come about through agreement or treaty. This treaty is likely the treaty that divides Israel to make way for a palestinian state, and it is this same treaty which begins the tribulation.

From this point we can see that it will take some time, likely many months to build this temple complex. Then we must have the daily temple sacrifice (simply called the daily in the Hebrew) reinstituted for a time.

How long will the sacrifice be slain in the temple then is another question. The answer may lie in the KJV Isaiah 29:1;
[1] Woe to Ariel to Ariel. The City where David dwelt. Add ye year to year; let them kill sacrifices.

If this is regarding the temple sacrice, and the Hebrew points to this being so, then the sacrifice will last 2 years before it is outlawed by antichrist in order to insure peace. Considering the fact that Ariel Sharon is the present Prime Minister of Israel and they are about to be forced to give over land to the palestinians, this verse may take even more significance.

This being the case we are at least perhaps 2 years and 2-6 months into the tribulation when the sacrifice is outlawed. We are also told that the tribulation, or Daniels 70th week, will only last 2300 days and not the full 7 years (70th week is cut short) according to Daniel 8:13-14. 2300 days is equal to 6.39 years.

So in the middle part of the tribulation, not the exact middle the sacrifice is outlawed.

But This is only 1 end of the measuring stick. Some do think that the taking of the sacrifice and the abomination occur at the same time, but according to the bible they don't. They are seperated by 1290 days and this is born out in scripture. Remember the KJV is only a translation. It is the translation i use but it isnt a perfect translation and i dont think there is a perfect translation.

Lets look at more literal translations of the passage;

YOUNGS LITERAL TRANSLATION
Daniel 12
11 and from the time of the turning aside of the perpetual [sacrifice], and to the giving out of the desolating abomination, [are] days a thousand, two hundred, and ninety.
12 O the blessedness of him who is waiting earnestly, and doth come to the days, a thousand, three hundred, thirty and five.

NEW CENTURY VERSION
Daniel 12
11 "The daily sacrifice will be stopped. Then, after 1,290 days from that time, the destroying terror will be set up.
12 Those who wait for the end of the 1,335 days will be happy"

Now the new century version sited above is by far the most accurate in this particular case, as I'll show shortly. This being the case here we do see that from the time the sacrifice is taken away, to the time when antichrist steps into the temple claiming to be God there shall be 1290 days, and then we have a 45 day time after that, making 1335 days, when everyone that is left alive will be happy. This is the coming of the millinial kingdom after the 1335 days.

The following is translated into english, but it is the actual Hebrew that is used without any clarifying words added.

HEBREW (TRANSLATED)
Daniel 12
11 Time Daily away abomination desolate up thousand hundred ninety days
12 blessed waiteth cometh thousand three hundred 5 thirty days

So we do see that there are 1290 days between the outlawing of the sacrifice and the time antichrist declares himself God in the temple. Daniel 11 40-45 give us clue to this as well. He is doing it in an insane and desperate attempt as world power is slipping from his hands and armageggon is about to bust wide open.

Now we come to the 45 day period after the abomination of desolation. The beginning of this marks the time of the rapture as we see in Matthew 24:15-45.

We are told pretty clearly, imho, that immediately after the abomination of desolation there will be the absolutely worse time mankind has ever seen, and its the worse time he shall ever see. This is the 45 days of armageddon where untold billions are killed. If there is any doubt, please tell me what time will be worse than that upon this earth and in this age? It will certainly be worse than the first portion of the 70th week because it will be relatively peaceful and prosperous and hopeful. It will be worse than the persecution of the Christians. While our deaths will tally in the millions it certainly wont reach multiple billions, now will the cities of the world be destroyed as in Armageddon. Also consider that this world would not endure more than 45 days of this destruction, let alone years, for as Christ said, unless these days be cut short there will be no flesh left alive.

In a nutshell this is the picture we receive from the bible;

1. The treaty is signed
2. Israel split to create a Palestinian state
3. The rebuilding of the temple
4. The daily sacrifice reinstituted 2 years
5. The sacrifice is outlawed
6. 1290 days begin with the outlawing of the sacrifice
7. Antichrist steps into the temple claiming to be God ending the 1290 days, and 45 days left to complete the 1335 days.
8. The rapture of the Church
9. 45 days of Armageddons destruction killing billions
10. The coming of Christ with the saints
11. Those left alive at the end, who did not fight against Jerusalem, who were not raptured, who did not receive the mark of the beast are left to repopulate the planet... in other words the meek inheirit the earth.
12. The millinial kingdom is set up. Christ rules 1000 years.

How well does Daniel 9:25-26 predict the time of the crucifixion of Christ?

Daniel 9:25-26

25Know therefore and understand, that from the going forth of the commandment to restore and to build Jerusalem unto the Messiah the Prince shall be seven weeks, and threescore and two weeks: the street shall be built again, and the wall, even in troublous times. 26And after threescore and two weeks shall Messiah be cut off, but not for himself: and the people of the prince that shall come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary; and the end thereof shall be with a flood, and unto the end of the war desolations are determined.

Hi Joe,
We see that at the end of the 69 weeks Messiah is cut off, but not for Himself. Of course the Messiah was cut off out of the land of the living for us.

This takes place after, or at the end of the 69th week.

How well does Daniel 9:25-26 predict the time of the crucifixion of Christ?
according to many, the prophecy in these passages predicts to the exact day from the time that the decree to rebuild Jerusalem went forth to the triumphal entry of Jesus into Jerusalem (that being the first 69 weeks).

The accuracy of this prophecy is undoubtedly why the Jews stopped accepting the book of Daniel as authentic after Christ. If you accept Daniel as an authentic prophecy, you have no choice but to accept Jesus as the messiah.

T2B,

Why do you think that the New Century and the Young's are correct when every other translation agrees in rendering the phrase "from the stopping of the daily sacrifice, and the setting up of the abomination of desolation, there will be 1290 days"?

Hi Simon

Thanks for addressing that, for some reason i missed it lol. I used the youngs because i believe it came closer to the intent of the prophecy. Actually, 'to' or 'and' can be interchangable here and mean the same thing imho, it just is a bit clearer to use 'to' in this case from this point of view. Heres the breakdown on that verse brother...

From the time:
1) time
a) time (of an event)
b) time (usual)
c) experiences, fortunes
d) occurrence, occasion

The Daily Sacrifice
1) continuity, perpetuity, to stretch
a) continually, continuously (as adverb)
b) continuity (subst)

Taken away
1) to turn aside, depart
a) (Qal)
1) to turn aside, turn in unto
2) to depart, depart from way, avoid
3) to be removed
4) to come to an end
b) (Polel) to turn aside
c) (Hiphil)
1) to cause to turn aside, cause to depart, remove, take away, put away, depose
2) to put aside, leave undone, retract, reject, abolish
d) (Hophal) to be taken away, be removed

And the abomination
1) detestable thing or idol, abominable thing, abomination, idol, detested thing

That maketh desolate
1) to be desolate, be appalled, stun, stupefy
a) (Qal)
1) to be desolated, be deflowered, be deserted, be appalled
2) to be appalled, be awestruck

Set up
1) to give, put, set

[there shall be] a thousand
1000

two hundred
200

and 90
90

Days
day

So what hes saying is this:
From the time the daily sacrifice is taken away, and the abomination of desolation is set up, there shall be 1290 days, but blessed is he who comes to the 1335 days

The structure of the sentence in the Hebrew pretty much determines that this is dividing 2 events placing the 1290 days between them. It is basicly saying that from this event, to the next, there are 1290 days.
Of course too we know that day wont be a blessing at ALL unless one is a Christian, and Christians will be blessed at the coming of the Lord. There MAY be one group who IS blessed though, which is the group i believe being referred to here. This would be those who were not Christian, but passed through the entire tribulation alive into the millenial reign. Granted this will be a greatly reduced population, and yet realisticly speaking, it makes much sence. Jesus said that UNLESS time were cut short, no man would be left alive, but for the elects sake, He would cut those days short. I would doubt, given the war against the saints, there will be many christians left alive at that time, but its a fairly safe bet, that if christians made it through, some unsaved do as well.
