Daniel was taken to Babylon as a captive under Nebuchadnezzar......the Babylonian kings failed to rule the 70 years prophesied by Jeremiah.......then Cyrus the Persian took the kingdom and ruled three years.....then Darius the Mede and then Cyrus again.
....

I just finished Daniel last week and noticed Daniel's timeline seemed to be mixed up. Were the rulers in order: Neb, Cyrus, Darius, Cyrus? or is the one chapter simply out of place. Are you saying it's the contents that are out of place and that Darius reigned in between 2 reigns of Cyrus? ???? Thanks!

I'm glad you liked this thread. Since you are studying the account of Jesus on the mount of Olives...see how Daniel sees a time of sorrow for the end that seems to last a long time?

In Matthew ...Jesus told us basically to watch for three kingdoms against each other times ......thus WWI, WWII and then a time of somewhat peace, and WWIII.

Matthew 24:6
"And ye shall hear of wars and rumors of wars.......come to pass......

Jesus told them first of a time of events to watch pass away and then told them......but the end is not yet.

The world would see wars that Jesus would later describe as kingdom against kingdom come to pass and the end is still not yet.
He even told us not to be troubled about all of this.

So we know the wars that bring sorrow to Daniel have yet to even start and will eventually bring the time of Jacob's trouble.
Only the third rising of kingdom against kingdom will be the time of the last generation to see all the things come to pass from this beginning of sorrows time.

Jesus told us to watch for the abomination that Daniel the prophet wrote about. Daniel didn't just wham bam tell us that one day there will be an abomination......he told us many things to watch for before that abomination happens. The time of why he was in sorrow for Daniel 10 begins at Daniel 11:14. Verse 15 brings a time of great war.

Hi Vinsight4u! Thank you; so I am seeing that basically 2 things are going to happen which are yet future - they concern 2 visions in Chapter 10 for the "latter days". Daniel mourned 3 weeks over the first vision and this vision is explained in Chapter 11 as a great war which we would call WWIII and is yet to happen. You had said somewhere that we are in the 3rd seal so, the man of sin is the 4th seal and he will come in peaceably at Dan 11:21 and then start showing his true colors, say at Daniel 11:31. Then he will go after Israel and the Church leading us to the great tribulation.

So the second vision in Chapter 10 fulfilled in Chapter 11 is this antichrist and there are some years between the 2 and I think you said verse Dan 11:14 is the key - so we are looking at 21 years for that vision to be fulfilled. I guess we are somewhere in that time frame since many things are happening in Iraq so, Babylon has rise again whereas right now it is being beseigned by the US. So a leader will come out of Iraq (Saddam) and invade Israel. So we are in the time of wars preceding WWIII - or the time of sorrows. Interesting!
