  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Daniel 6:13-14 King James Version (KJV)
13 Then answered they and said before the king, That Daniel, which is of the children of the captivity of Judah, regardeth not thee, O king, nor the decree that thou hast signed, but maketh his petition three times a day.

14 Then the king, when he heard these words, was sore displeased with himself, and set his heart on Daniel to deliver him: and he laboured till the going down of the sun to deliver him.

Daniel 6:13-14 New English Translation (NET Bible)

13 Then they said to the king, “Daniel, who is one of the captives from Judah, pays no attention to you, O king, or to the edict that you issued. Three times daily he offers his prayer.”

14 When the king heard this, he was very upset and began thinking about how he might rescue Daniel. Until late afternoon he was struggling to find a way to rescue him.

These are my thoughts, please share yours.

13 Their plan worked they got Daniel and turned him in, Daniel was much more then just a captive but that is how they saw him. Sometimes people see us with a label and they won’t let us be in their eyes more then that.

14 The king did not want to send Daniel in the lions den but the problem was it was already law and had to be done.

I embellished the Scripture, hopefully with useful results, but it doesn't remain Scripture.

Then, with evil in their hearts, they lied to the king that Daniel from Judah had rejected the king (Daniel had not) and the king's decree (Daniel did, according to the laws of the Medes and Persians, but all legitimate authority is from God and does not contradict itself), because he still prayed three times a day. When the king heard this, he immediately recognized that he had been tricked by men with murderous intent against Daniel—the Daniel who spoke with the king's authority to all the administrators and the satraps and who was worthy of ruling the entire kingdom with the king's voice (which was not much different than being tricked into killing the king himself). The king was distressed about his error and Daniel's impending death (now revealed in his mind as unjustified), and searched the law of the Medes and Persians and every other way he could think of for a way to set Daniel free.
