As ugly and heinous, inhaman and horrific as the beheading was - I cannot think that bombing a whole region will do anything but create greater anger.

Jesus said that we were to love our enemies. Loving our friends is the easy part. Part of loving those who hate us is so much more difficult, because it implies that we need to put ourselves in their shoes, at least for a time, in order to know what they are feeling.

This is the failing of the current administration...an utter lack of humility, and wreckless violent retaliation.

I don't buy the "just war" theories for a minute...but hey, that's me.

This happens to be the most bizarre response I'd ever imagine from a human being,...... especially one who bears a cross at the top of his posts. :o


Besides that, the "Christi" part of me would like to behead an Iraqi or Saudi criminal (or two), for every American who is beheaded. The CHRIST who is in me, tells me to turn the other cheek. It's easy for Him, He knows the future, He's claimed the victory that we've yet to see, He looks at things from above, seeing the past and the future. The present doesn't scare or anger Him. It does me, though. I hope I can try to keep His world view, rather than my own, and simply obey and follow Him without letting my own emotions take over what He's commanded me to do.

As for what I personally would do, I really don't know. I'm just glad I'm not the one who has to decide on what course of action to take.

Well, actually (edit) I was just looking at some of the poll options...I think [strongly recommending[/i] and not ordering that all US citizens get out of there would be a good course of action. As for retaliation, I don't know what can be done. Reading about Paul Johnson and his love for the middle East, I don't think he would condone violence as a means of retaliation. I get the impression he's the type of person who just want a concentrated effort to save more innocent lives made.

I think, given the bad reactions so far to bombing and invasion, the best idea would be to stop doing it and work for peace with world partners, particularly those whom Iraqis admire.
