Just 'popped-in' before bed to check out the layout ;)

We went to Andrew's for dinner [last evening] and took Denis and his girls with us
then we took him and his girls home again and we didn't get 'indoors' until after 1am
So, it's just a 'quickie' for those that come later :D

It is cold at the zoo, so

FENCE HOP--------------------------------

Unknown photographer writes: ----------------------
“The old elephant moved in a northerly direction
and traversed a number of farms,
never damaging a fence while climbing over each.”

NEON REINDEER

To protect Finnish reindeer and avoid traffic accidents
they spray paint their antlers with glow-in-the-dark paint.
Reindeer are not hunted, but while they roam freely for most of the year,
they are owned like cattle.
The antlers glow only in car headlights. If you drive in Lapland
you cannot avoid seeing these animals around roadsides in large flocks.

GIANT CAT

Is this true?

"A giant three-foot long cat that was nicknamed Catasaurus Rex
has finally found a home. After wandering the streets for a while,
the 21 pound feline was taken in by the Massachusetts Society
for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.
Mr Milicia and his girlfriend had been picked from a pool
of around 50 animal lovers that had offered to take the cat."

CONGRATULATIONS

560096_663791953665164_738233954_n.jpg

CONGRATULATIONS
TO ALL BORN IN 1930's, 1940's, 50's, 60's, 70's and Early 80's !!!

First, you survived being born to mothers who smoked and/or drank
while they carried us. They took aspirin, ate blue cheese dressing, tuna from a tin,
and didn't get tested for diabetes. Then after that trauma, your baby cots
were covered with bright colored lead-based paints.
You had no childproof lids on medicine bottles, doors or cabinets
and when you rode your bikes, you had no helmets, not to mention,
the risks you took hitchhiking ..
As children, you would ride in cars with no seat belts or air bags.
Riding in the back of a van - loose - was always great fun.
You drank water from the garden hosepipe and NOT from a bottle.
You shared one soft drink with four friends, from one bottle and NO ONE actually died from this.
You ate cakes, white bread and real butter and drank pop with sugar in it,
but you weren't overweight because......
YOU WERE ALWAYS OUTSIDE PLAYING!!
You would leave home in the morning and play all day,
as long as we were back when the streetlights came on.
No one was able to reach you all day. And you were OK.
You would spend hours building your go-carts out of scraps
and then ride down the hill, only to find out you forgot the brakes.
After running into the bushes a few times, you learned to solve the problem .
You did not have Playstations, Nintendo's, X-boxes, no video games at all,
no 99 channels on cable, no video tape movies, no surround sound,
no mobile phones, no text messaging, no personal computers,
no Internet or Internet chat rooms..........
YOU HAD FRIENDS
and you went outside and found them!
You fell out of trees, got cut, broke bones and teeth
and there were no lawsuits from these accidents
you played with worms(well most boys did)
and mud pies made from dirt, and the worms did not live in us forever.
You made up games with sticks and tennis balls
and although you were told it would happen, you did not poke out any eyes.
You rode bikes or walked to a friend's house and knocked on the door
or rang the bell, or just yelled for them!
Local teams had tryouts and not everyone made the team.
Those who didn't had to learn to deal with disappointment.
Imagine that!!
The idea of a parent bailing you out if you broke the law was unheard of. They actually sided with the law!
This generation has produced some of the best risk-takers, problem solvers and inventors ever!
The past 50 years have been an explosion of innovation and new ideas. You had freedom, failure, success and responsibility,
and you learned HOW TO DEAL WITH IT ALL!
And YOU are one of them!
CONGRATULATIONS!

You might want to share this with others who have had the luck to grow up as kids,
before the lawyers and the government regulated our lives for our own good.
And while you are at it, forward it to your kids
so they will know how brave their parents were.

:)

I don't know whether to laugh or cry at a thing like this. I rode my bike from my Dad's house in Villa Park to a forest preserve in Wayne, Illinois-- 15 miles one way-- and never gave a thought that I might be kidnapped. Now, if your child is out of sight you immediately assume the worst and get your phone so an Amber Alert can be issued--just before your child shows up, not knowing that he nearly caused an all-points-bulletin to be issued.
I never did join a Little League team-- instead my friends and I would play sand-lot baseball, making up some rules as we went along because we didn't know all of the official rules. We built "forts" on the local playground out of cardboard and plywood. Not much of a fort, really, a playful dog could have knocked it down-- but to us, it could withstand a full-on Panzer attack. In the winter, we built snow forts that actually were fairly substantial-- snow somehow being a better building material than cardboard and plywood.

Is this world really more dangerous than it was when we were young-- or are we just more terrified than we used to be? That is the question.

That is the question.

For sure, we could do a lot more things SAFELY (back then)
and 'the sickness', was, (shall we say) much less obvious [?]
As an eight years old [eldest] sibling, I would take my 2 brothers and a sister
and on-occasions some friends (same age) [neighbours]
would also accompany us, on weekend 'expeditions'
~into the local countryside
!! a 30 mile 'round-trip' [6-7 hours] was not, uncommon !!

This! without having declared 'our destination' in-advance [at-home]
Had anything befallen us...
we'd simply be ~MISSING WITHOUT TRACE
Obviously, we ALWAYS found our way HOME AGAIN ~by 'tea-time' :)

I can remember a lot of those times, they were wonderful
and I don't think a lot of us enjoyed them as we should have,
wow, I sure would now.

I am sure I can acknowledge, my having similar feelings to these Susie Sis'
If we could go back [while 'knowing' what we know now]
We would sure enjoy it all, 'so MUCH MORE'

They may have been less sophisticated, but I sure did enjoy mine, I miss them to be honest. LOL.

Dave, I have a question. How do you post pictures? I used to do by going to that little box with the mountain in it, but now, I can't, I get this message "403 Forbidden" Access to this resource on the server is denied, powered by LiteSpeedWebServer". It says this no matter what computer I use, drats, now, how can I post pictures?
